Ken the 50% is a different story but I would be picky and only sell it to someone like BeaumontBill who is more than worthy and in my opinion is a honorary Canadian for his dedication and preservation of our rare Beaumonts and you know he could have as many Chevelles as he wanted but he chose our Beaumonts

Ah, so its kinda like the old storey-"Will you sleep with me for a million dollars ? Yes, Will you sleep with me for $20 no, hmmm why not ? we know what you are , we just need to negotiate a price."

David I don't blame you-its a car whoever wants to pay is fair to me, theres a couple boys here in Canada that will pay-the rest are south of the border. I just like this topic-no offense intended.

Depressing topic...
Every seller has a price.  In this case, many potential purchasers have a way to come up with the funds to purchase the car, depending on what they/we are willing to sacrifice (rrsp's, re-mortgage etc).  Therefore every buyer has a price.
As a result, "we know what you are" can possibly be "we know what each of us are"?
I'm now going to curl up in the fetal position in the shower and weep that I'm not willing to pay the price.
Good luck with the sale...

As a "former owner" of the 1 of 66, Rare, red Conv   I must say that , if I had the funds , I would gladly pay 40-50 thou to get that car back! jawdrop.gif  It would be quite a story for me, to buy it back after 40 years...biggrin  When I bought it in 1979 for $2950.00, it was a "deal" as Dave(Leo's Partner) though it was worth $3500.00  lolwink  It was a lot for me and I paid cash!   I have a almost photographic memory, and that car was one of my best.. Carl           best wishes on its sale  Hope it does go to a good home...I know whats its like, to be under pressure, to have to sell a car to help the family...

It's a funny time. A 64 SD all built went for 9000.00 over here in the west and he had 30000.00 into it. That L-79 66 Acadian couldn't bring the money that the owner wanted either. The market dictates the price. It's a hard pill to swallow for the big ticket car owners, but the bubble has popped. Not a good time to unload unless you have to and then the price will have to be under 25000.00 Canadian. I don't have the room or money to buy all the good deals in the west. It is a nice unrestored car.

Yes you are correct-its worth what one will pay-just surprising with all the hype nobody will pay, its not long ago these things were 15-20 or even less and yes we are in for serious market correction. I'd like to own it too at $20,000 but I don't think thats going to happen.

I still have it and I am never going to sell it. Chalk it up to temporary insanity. Besides I guess I really never wanted to sell it in the first place and that is why I set the price so high. It will be a while before I can give it the proper frame off that it deserves but when it's done I'm sure it will be a standout in any show I bring it to.

Yes I did sell my hardtop. Get some pictures of that new one on here as soon as you find it. My hardtop was originally Provincial White with the Blue interior and it is currently being restored and returning to the original white by the new owner.

I'm very disappointed to read all the comments concerning keeping the Canadian built cars in Canada.  I consider myself as worthy an owner as any Canadian would be.  I have continually upgraded the features of my Acadian every year since I first bought it.  I bought the car in Montreal only after a Canadian buyer backed out because his wife said "no way".
I drove all the way to BC to buy my 62 Nova (Canadian Built) convertible and drove it home to Michigan.
I have attended "Autofest" in Oshawa twice, first time with my 62 Nova Convertible.  Most of the people, when they found out I was from the U.S. wanted to talk about U.S. built muscle cars.  Not one person really had an interest in my unrestored 62 Canadian built Nova.
The next time I attended Autofest, I was thrilled when they said to line up for awards.  I thought "Wow" people did notice this is one of less than 500 1963 Acadian Beaumont SD cars and the trouble I went to finding the missing original trim pieces to return it to an original appearing car with suspension and drivetrain mods.
Once in the awards line, I discovered we were receiving the long distance award.  I was embarrassed, ask me to parade my resto-mod rare Canadian built car with all the people's choice cars because I drove 2-3 hundred miles to attend.
In the last few months I have had my cars up for sale mainly because I can't seem to keep up with two cars and my pension future is still unknown.  Also, my benefits have all vanished so that is all out of pocket expense now.  During this time the convertible has drawn the most attention because it is cheaper and a convertible.  In all the 10-15 people I have had very interested and I believe each one was a potential buyer, not one was interested due to the Canadian Heritage.  In the last 10 years, I have only personally known of one other Canadian built 62 Nova Convertible and this car has a power top when they didn't offer a power top in the U.S. in the 1962 Novas.
Documentation says 1451 built and I know that there were 1250 1962 Acadian Convertibles built.  Not many of them survived.
So, I have not gained anything money wise by owning these two Canadian built cars.  The consensus is that heritage does not add to the value one bit.  I sure haven't seen an added increase in potential buyers.  I haven't had hundred's of Canadian's calling me in response to my Canadian Car ads.  I own these cars because I like to be a little different.  Sometimes it seems like fellow Nova owners don't spend any extra time going over my car because they know they cannot duplicate it.  They know you can't go to eBay and bid on one tomorrow so they don't want to give you the satisfaction of knowing they like your car better than their own.
I'm not a disgruntled owner, I'm not a disgruntled U.S. citizen, I'm just a car guy like all of you and I drink Canadian Beer because I like it, just like I like my Canadian Cars.
