Rear end question...

Hey all...

I'm going to be servicing my rear differential in my '59 Strato Chief... tossin' a new seal & some fresh fluid in there. Thing is: I've never done it before, is there anything I need to know... or any tricks or tips to keep in mind in my ongoing effort to not completely screw this automobile up?

If so... spill your guts!

thx
Dave

Ummm, sorry Carl, that's for later models, 59's did not have the 12-bolt or even 10-bolt rear cover type diff, they had the drop-out center section like the 9" Fords - here's what the 56 looks like, 59 is the same:

Fat Dave and Trevor, I do have all kinds of documents on how to rebuild this rear end, PM me with your email address and I'll send 'em all to you.

Dave
