Secret plans for the Laurentian, not so secret is he got a correct heater core for it in Detroit, Chevelle part if you can believe it. Once it is road worthy well then maybe you'll all want to tag along. nod.gif

It's loud too and my head hits the roof, I guess that's why it lowers.

sold for $45,200 US.  There was a little action at the end, and the buyer had to up his bid a couple hundred bucks.

Yeah, it looks like someone else came in with 6 minutes to go and upped it by only a $100.  Previous high bidder came in and sniped with just a couple of seconds to go.  I'm sure he bid a lot higher than 45,200 just in case there were any other last second bidders.

So now we have a benchmark.  I wonder where the new owner is located and if he will ever find his way on here?

On another note, you will see that Al Webster was out at Thornhill last night. He only has two Pontiacs going in the auction on Oct.17 the 58 Tri power and a '46 Woodie Wagon. Lots of pre-war stuff otherwise, oh ya and his Powder blue '53 Caddy that I posted else where.

My name is Rob and I am from Grand Rapids, Michigan and I am the new owner of the '69 2+2 convertible auctioned on Ebay.  I am the one that requested the original confirmation on the VIN of the car.  Since I was 12 (over 35 years ago) I have been a huge '69 B-bodied Pontiac fan and have owned several '69 Catalinas and Bonnevilles.  Unlike most American Pontiac fans, I have ALWAYS known about the Canadian 2+2 models and have always hoped of owning a '69 2+2 convertible.  I did not, however, think I would have to pay this much!  But I got to tell you, I think it is worth it from the standpoint of its rarity and more importantly my total appreciation for the MUCH overlooked Canadian Pontiacs like this one.  My plans are to eventually get it back to original looking condition.  I know that I will be needing an emblem for the deck lid if anybody has an 'extra' one sitting around and wants to trade for a set of green sport mirrors!  I will be flying down to pick the car up in a week and yes, I will be driving it home.  I appreciate the information that I received from everyone prior to the auction ending.  I will be posting more and asking more questions (I'm sure!) in the future!

Rob

Well Rob, a big hearty congratulations and a second welcome to the site (if we didn't already welcome you the first time!)  You know we are all fans of the car and it is just great that you will be putting it back to original.  A number of us will be attending the Barrie Automotive Swap Meet this weekend which is probably the largest in Canada and we will certainly keep our eyes peeled for that rear deck lid 2+2 emblem, that is if someone on here doesn't already have one they can spare.
We look forward to hearing about your drive home any adventures or interesting inquiries you may receive along the way.

It's great that you live relatively close to the Great White North and maybe you can make it over for one of our get togethers some time, I'm sure everyone would love to see your car.

I know it's a bit of stretch but it would be great if you could show up at the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex on Sept 18-19.  Lots of people always there who appreciate Canadian cars as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome!  Unfortunately, I will be missing the muscle car drags this year, as that is the weekend I will be picking up the car.  I love that event and always attend as a spectator.  I am sure our paths will cross at some point next year.

Rob

My congratulations as well Rob. It is so nice to know that someone who truly appreciates the car is the new owner. I think a lot us wish were were in a position to bid on that car. As newsletter editor for the Canadian Pontiac specialty Chapter of POCI I already have an article on the sale ready to go to print. A lot of our members don't come on here so it is the only way they have of knowing about this historic sale. We'd love you to join that group as well. www.canadianpontiac.org

Congrats Rob!!!

Have you sent for your GM Canada Vintage documents yet?.

Did the original POP come w/ the car?.

Have you inquired where the original engine ended up?.

Great job Rob. That is one impressive car ! It will be great having you and that car on this site for sure. I recently saw a 67 427 Impala rag for sale for over 50g's and yours is much rarer and its a Canadian Pontiac !

Congratulations on acquiring a rare one, Rob.

I think this is the emblem you're looking for....

The above car is actually a 2+2 clone. It's a Laurentian now located in Washington State.

Hundreds of photos of the conversion are located HERE.

Way to go Rob.

I hope we didn't discourage you nit picking the car.

By the sound of it, I think we won't have. Sounds like you want to get it "correct". There's lots of gurus on here who will be able to steer you down the right path.

Very neat car!
