Crap year for the vegetable garden

Our garden sure took a hit this year with the wet weather. Both my tomatoes and potatoes were hit with a blight. I was able to save about 50% of our potatoes (we got about 30lbs whereas we should have got 60) I wasn't so lucky with our tomatoes- I ended up pulling them all out. We got about 10 tomatoes that weren't affected. Too bad as we had some really big ones on the vine.

It seems peppers love this weather though. I have more Hungarian Hot Peppers than I know what to do with them. Connie will likely puree and freeze them. I have about 8 pumpkins doing pretty well also. Our cabbages and peas survived however the cabbage was a little bitter if it wasn't cooked.

Hopefully conditions will be better next year!

Oh- one tip. If you can find "Fish Mulch" use it! Your plants will love you however your neighbors will hate you- the smells is pretty bad!

Our pond fared better. We have so many fish that I'll likely be giving a bunch away next year. Lots of babies. We added a filtration system that uses a UV light to kill bacteria. 24 hours later the water was super clear. Here's some of the inhabitants getting a rare handout of food (they survive on plants etc)

This guy is doing well too:

Between the flood, cold weather and all the rains we never even tried a garden this year. It's been a long time since we had no garden...

I have to say our garden was pretty good. Better corn than last year. The tomatoes did really well. The green beans were phenomanal. Lettuce was good but didn't last as long this year. I should have been planting more but oh well. Green peppers didn't do to well nor did the carrots but i'm wondering if i planted them too close together and planted too many carrots in one space. I'm going to have to get some top soil next year as ours is eroding away. We haven't used any fertilizer of any kind and have had excellent results.
