It's always hard to really judge a car unless you see it in person.  Personally, I would never buy a car that I had not seen, unless it was just ridiculously throw away cheap, and then you would want to see it anyway to find out why it was so cheap!wink

Agreed, I've always been amazed at how many people buy sight unseen, or at the very least they don't hire a third party to look at it for them

Yup, you can end up seeing hundreds of things in person that would never be revealed in all the best photos in the world, plus, how can you test drive it sight unseen?wink

He ran that 71 down the strip too, many times. The body is close to perfect with paint being tired but presentable.I'd jump on it if I had Hillar's money.

I agree with you. I bought one sight unseen, and was happy with the car, but the pics did not reveal a few imperfections that I would have liked to know about.

I almost bought a second but was saved by the fact that I hired an independent appraiser before closing the deal. Had  not done that I would have overpaid had I bought the car.

My rule now is that I will not buy a big dollar car unless either I see it; or I have someone knowledgeable and credible see it for me.

Of course, the former is not always practical, so I will undoubtedly miss some opportunities.
