Powder coating valve covers. A good or bad idea?

It's known for being tough, but how is it with heat?  Does it make sense to powder coat an intake manifold?
thx in advance...

Powder coat is ok with heat. Those shinny intake manifolds made buy Edelbrock are powder coated.

I powder coat and ceramic coat as a side line business. Powder for valve covers and intake manifolds is fine,, good for about 300' F. They do make a high temp powder for exhausts systems , which I've done as well with no problems, high temp powder has a higher silicone content etc. BUT NOTE..there is a difference in powders !!!

now ceramics is a different process, it's usually a water borne aluminum / ceramic compostiton. you spray it wet, then bake off the water to leave behind the ceramic compostition, good for 1200'F

there's lots of good info out there, caswell, eastwood are a few for the hobbiest.

I'll ask about the high temp powder coat. (Ordered some new valve cover decals as well.)
Thx all for the feedback.

Hey if you are doing powder coating and HI temp also ,you would not happen to live in the Paris Ont area .? Just asking because a good friend is getting a set of AMC headers done in HI temp powder coat the guy said it works good.

Sorry ,,not me ,, I'm out in Saskatchewan !!! the high temp is pretty nice, I pre heat the headers first ( 150'f) then coat em ,, get a nice heavy finish that way , and it creeps into the corners better .

I'm even doing snowmobile pipes, sled necks love it.

I had my headers ceramic coated(cast) for my BBC in my 'Chief and for the amount of time I've had it running they are holdind up great!!!They look fabulous as well.I highly recommend powder/ceramic coating.Anyone in the Calgary area I can recommend a company that I've been using for a while now with no complaints -just alot of thank-you's.
