Fender to Front Bumper Rubber question

Hi guys,

As you can see from these pictures, I've taken the front bumper off of my 68 2+2. I want to send the chrome out this winter and clean up/paint the rest.

My question is about the rubber that is attached to the front leading edge of the fenders and fits in behind the bumper. It's been painted body colour and I've been told this is wrong. It shouldn't be painted and left black. I would like to replace it if possible. Do you know who might repro something like this ? If not, is there a right way to take the rubber off and clean it of the paint ?

You can pick up a rattle can of matt black rubber trim paint at Canadian Tire.

If they're not brittle or cracked. Bead blast them clean. Only the paint will be affected, not the rubber.
