I only assumed that the car had a higher HP 409 and I never asked him. I don't know what was offered in 64 for HP ratings on a Impala. I only know Beaumonts. This thing had every other option, air, tilt, pw, pb, p-locks, remote mirrorrs, extra ashtray. He was offered 75G's and turned it down. It was his favorite car. Stupid me without my camera. Beautiful color combo too, silver on two tone silver black interior.

This is mine bought new back in the day, no flares either. Recall paying about $6,700 for it. My Cousin had a 80 4 speed and this 78 auto never lost a race to the 4 gear, ever. He was a GM mechanic for Roy Foss in Toronto, not saying he was an expert driver but no hack.

I had a 81 Z-28 4 spd and it looked alot light the 79 with all the body flares. Mine had a super t-10 and my buddy had the tire roaster cast iron borg warner. I would eat him alive when we dragged. He would bounce the tack to the stop in first gear, man that car was tuff.

I found one on kijji. It was like this car, but more options.

64 Impala SS 409 - RARE!

Date ListedOct-26-09
Price$58,000.00
AddressRancho Cordova, CA, United States
View map
The car is a 64 impala SS 409/425 transistorized ignition numbers match car. I've been doing a complete frame off on this 33k original mile car. I've even got the original black and yellow plates with the 1973 registration sticker from when it was last on the road. I've almost completed the complete frame off restoration on this car. The car is 95% complete and only needs the seats (I have the frames), carpet, and a few minor things to be complete. I've already installed a new headliner, new dash, door panels, etc. Everything on this car is numbers match and is sure to be a show winner once finished. Car runs and drives, and there's too much to list. There have been thousands of hours and $$$ spent on the restoration. I would love to keep this, but due to recent health issues, I've been unable to work on the car. I'm currently entertaining offers and may be open to a partial trade. If someone is interested and would like more info or pics, call me anytime (916)223-2370.

Thanks. Marv

Some of the factory options include: radio delete, tilt wheel, 4.56 gears, etc.

I have not been asking clearly I think. What horsepower 409 is in that car you talk of?

I think the higher HP was the dual quad motor and I only saw one air cleaner unless they both breath through one. I never asked the guy so I don't know. The base was 340 and the other was 425 I think. I under stood what you were asking but I never asked him. Didn't know until today that there was more than one.

I am not positive on 64 but I know there was a 400 horse at some point too.

I think I was mostly curious if it was the 425. It would be one air cleaner but two studs sticking through the top. I think it was 2 Carters in line on an aluminum intake.

Test post due to concerns about some sort of virus in this thread...

All good here so far.

Looks like I need a excuse to go and visit him again. I will have to find a part to give him as a gift and this time take my camera.
