Electric snow blowers

Does anyone have one or have a friend with one? I see on YouTube that those are great for powder, but we get a wet snow. For the month I would use it I don't want a big gas powered and need a smaller unit to fit in the garage.http://www.toro.com/home/snowthrowers/electric/1800.html

Was thinking of this one

Go big or go home. In Ontario, even Toronto an electric just isn't up to the task. Maybe powder but not wet stuff imo.

Even a small gas is better than an electric. The 1st time you get snow with a bit of moisture you won't be happy with the electric.

I beg to differ.  I have pretty well the same model Kim is looking at.  It is about to enter it's 4th or 5th winter of service.  I have used it to clear snow a foot high, mind you, you have to take two passes at it, you lean it back on the wheels and skim off the top 6" first and then take a second pass to do the last 6".  Now granted, I don't have a huge driveway but for my purposes it has been just fine.  Throws the snow a good 20 feet. It is light, easy to store and with that electric motor, it starts every time, no fooling around with chokes when it is damp and freezing.  Also that electric motor has a lot of torque, it will grind through thicker stuff than you would imagine.  I got it at a clearance sale for like $200, and it has been well worth the money.smile
