My '59 Parisienne restoration progress - update on page 2

This is my 59 Parisienne restoration progress. I think it will be finished in a few more months. Soon it will be the only '59 Parisienne running in brazilian streets. biggrin

The car when me and my father bought it:

Removing the paint:

We found the car was green...

...and it had a lot of rust!

261 engine with powerglide transmission.

Starting doing the restoration

The engine is rebuilt and painted, and a new Powerglide with no use is going to the car. The previous owner had this transmission stored since the 60s and never used it!

Car with the new tyres and hubcap:

The car is starting to look good smile

Funny. Years ago I thought of 4 door hardtops as parts cars.

Oh, how that has changed! Beautiful job, thanks for the updates.

This same 261 engine was manufactured in Brazil too, so it's easy to find parts for it.
The car was almost 100% original, so it wasn't missing any parts. Only the tyres and brake pads were imported from USA.

My '59 Parisienne restoration progress - updated w/ new photo

Small update on the restoration progress. The front fender still has to be chromed again. Recently I bought new brake pads on ebay and I as impressed how cheap and good quality it was... Sometimes it's cheaper to import small parts than to buy it here. hmm

wow!! looks awesome!! What was the price for chroming your bumper? I was told $1000 just for the front. Maybe if the price is right i will get it done down in mexico.

I think I confused the words in my post, I meant bumper where  wrote fender. Sorry for my bad english. biggrinbiggrin

I chromed the rear bumper, but not the front bumper yet. The price here is around US$500, it's expensive, but it's necessary and I won't find a new bumper around here to buy, so it's the only option.
