Hi Carl,

Just wanted to let you know that I am the proud owner of a solid 67 full size convertible frame.  The previous owner of the frame was going to restore a 67 Impala convertible so he imported a southern frame.  He then decided not to go through with the project.  It cost me $500, great deal!!!!

You will often see me making the statement ("you only have to buy it once")
  but like your frame (no matter how much it cost) big ticket items like frames, bumper chrome, seat covers, paint are well worth their expense, and usually a once in "that car" lifetime.........wink

I took a letter set and stamped my initials into the frame in about 4 different places.  Easy to identify should it get stolen or some other  form of thievery....

Check out the Metal Laundry (that's the name I remember) in Brampton, they have a tank that is about 40 feet long and ten feet deep.  They did my frame many years ago, and they worked in conjunction with a body shop that sand blasted the frame after it came out of the soak.  They then sprayed it with an epoxy enamel.   Very hard and 25 years later still looks fantastic.

My frame has been welded, and I would like to replace it.  It is functional. but is the worst part on my car. Anymore frames out there?  Any expert advice would be nice. I am assuming that a 67 Caprice frame is the same as a 67 Grande Parisienne 2 Dr.  Are 67 Impalas the same? Any other pontiac models. Thanks in advance!

'67-'68 2 and 4dr frames are the same
conv frames have stronger side rails, you could use one also
wagon frames are a bit longer in the rear rails

not absolutely sure, but i believe the '69-'70 frames will work, '67 thru '70

 See another thread link below. We have had this disussion a few times now. Another tid bit I will add is that I put a 4-dr sedan on my '67 2+2 Rag back in '88 sometime and it still resides there to this day. 

 Now, before anyone disagrees with me and gives me heck, as in a previous post, in the event that a convert frame is not available, such as mine, the frame has done its purpose extremely well and I have 14,000 plus miles on it! Most of them were not flat prairie roads but Newfoundland and Labrador roads!

 In a pinch and sometimes beyond... It will work!

ya gotta admit these cars frames are famous for gettin the metal worms in them.Even the chevellles and beaumonts also.Even my 67 beaumont wagon was patched above the rear wheels.My 65 imp ss has been patched twice now and my parts 4 door impalas frame is toast. Definately the first thing to look at when buying these cars,frame change is a pretty big job.500 bucks for that frame is a screaming deal for sure!
