Meaning which is more desireable? Worth more? Faster?...
Let me know and I'll contribute my 2 cents...

Hands down 65 SD for me I like the body style more they are both very desirable cars and I would kill to own ether. But if I had to choose it would be the 65

very tough call on that one-I have always favoured 67's and big blocks but my hands are in the air

more desireable. I`m a big fan of any big block but in this case I would would go with the L79. As for faster someone may have the stats on that.

In this example, assuming they are both in the same condition, I would go with the 67 BB. (First though, I'd have to test drive each for a week.)

PS  As cars get smaller in general, those '65's are becoming more and more attractive every year.

I love the 65's and have alot, but those big blocks are what people know and love. Louvers, big block hoods, fat valve covers, fatter tire space for the meats, and a better aftermarket. You would have explain a L-79 to most people and that gets tiring. I would own the 65 SD L-79 personally but I,m a 65 freak and am a little one sided.

67 BBC as a year/engine is still more desirable to the 'masses'*... but i would think they would both sell for similar prices if in a similar nicely restored condition... since there would be buyers for both...I would also expect more buyers for a bbc car, but there is a solid following for L79s and that may drive the price over the 67...

now if i had to pick one to win a race in bone stock form, i'd go with the L79 by at least two car lengths, maybe more!! i dont think it'd be fair for an L79 to pick on an L34 396... maybe an L78, now there's a different story and it wasnt available!

I dont know much about the 65 beaumont but I do know the 65 chevelle malibu had a z16(396/375hp) and 4spd option was that ever offered in the beaumont, now that would be one hell of a car WOW.

I would take the 65 L79. Not a big block fan. I had a L76 that I made into a L79 by changing the cam and had the most fun ever for me in a car.  I also like the 65 body style over the 67.

You could tip me off the fence either way on this one.

Both high on my list of favourites.

I like both but would rather have them as a hardtop - way nicer looking in my opinoin. OK, a 65 L79 Hardtop.

I like em all, but the 65 L79 car is really appealing cause you don't see as many, very unique muscle car but dollar for dollar the big blocks prevail.

I agree that the hardtops do look better (but man, the ragtops are much, much more fun!)

I've had two L78 Chevelles and saw what a '68 L79 Chevelle did to a '69 L34 Chevelle. I don't think an L78 is going to beat an L79 car by enough to give the owner any satisfaction. That and the L79 will give a whole lot better gas mileage too. Of course, at a car show, as long as you have a big block, you are mister race car even if your car is neither quick nor fast. To me, the L79 Chevelles and Chevy IIs were the sleeper cars of all time.

Out on the Trans Canada near Sackville N.B.  I witnessed a lot of races..  No one could out run the new 2 door post 66 Strato Chief  396-325 4 speed   It hooked up (the secret)  and I onlysaw one car "keep up"  A dude from Moncton shows up with a 2 door post 67 Chevelle  3 speed on the column    It pulls with the big Poncho in 1st and 2nd gear!!  and then the Strato Chief pulls him in 3rd and high   What was in the Chevelle?  owner said 327-275   I think it was a 350 HP   GOOD MEMORIES

I can vouch that it wasn't a 327/275 with a powerglide with the stock gears!hmm

PS  Having said that, I had a buddy who owned one of the early model V12 XJS's.  A very nice car.  I remember we were side by side on the highway slowed down to about 45 mph.  Then be both stepped on it.  I kept up all the way to about 105mph, at which point he began to pull away.  I know it po'd him that I was able to keep up, especially considering it was a beautiful day and I had the roof down...

Every where!!!    they(STRATO CHIEFs) are all over the place....  lol

2nd story     I am heading out of Goderich, heading south on 21 highway..   I look in my mirror, and white Corvette is out, in passing lane, coming hard!  I kick my car into passing gear, and take off!!  He comes up beside me as I shift into 3rd (400 turbo) and I start pulling away!   at 120 mph He has pulled in and black/brown smoke is coming out the rear.... poor old L82 79 Vette...... I am sure he was embarrassed to see that old red SD396 Conv pulling away, with two kids(girsl) waving at him....    GOOD MEMORIES

327  3 speed on column,  4:11 gears,  headers with exhaust cutouts open,  retread rear tires--  probably 825-14
