Is it the same for Chevelles do you think? I hadn't thought of that. Does that mean an early 67 Canadian 396 Chevelle is a Malibu SS with A51 Sport Option until it became a 138 car?

My uncle was the original owner of a Canadian built 66 396 4 speed chevelle. It did not have the bb hood.

This is a 67 Mallibu SS built before December 66 confirmed by GM. Is a 136 car. Has a big block hood but can not confirm if original.

davelacoiurse makes some excellent points.  I guess it all depends upon what you want.  This is obviously at least a semi-customized car, with those wheels maybe he is trying to emulate a pro touring look, seems to have done some work on the suspension as well.  Personally, it's not the kind of mods I would pay any money for. Regardless, like Earl said, whatever money is put into a car, it is never fully recovered on sale, .50 on the dollar is a good ratio of real world recovery.

i have a 67 malibu ss396 and it has the power bulge hood, im sure its factory, will have to look at the build date,

Thanks for the info Carl. Another example of the real uniqueness of Canadian-built Pontiacs. Maybe GM of Canada was trying to build a real 'sleeper' car? smile.gif I know my hood bulges were immediately apparent to the guy in the other lane at the stop light and led to quite a few non-challenges ... not that my 325HP 396 was all that great ... but the built 454 I put in later was another story.

I think Earl is right about the 50 cents on the dollar. I ran across a young fellow down here not too long ago with a beautiful 66 Chevelle hardtop, one of those 100% new 540 c.i.d. motors from World or Dart, all-new interior, undercarriage you couild eat off of, paint so pretty he was afraid to take it out of the garage for fear of what the rabble might do to it, he was trying to get $30,000 and had not a single bite for over a year ...

You raise a valid, and good point about building one. But the reality is or has been always for me that I get about .50 cents on the dollar when going to sell. Even less when the market is soft.

 




 or less-aftermarket additions (chrome, performance etc...) add about 1/3 of their cost to the value of a Harley Davidson-providing the purchaser has the same taste.

kinda like putting a swiming pool in your back yard-if the buyer wants one-he gets it for free-if he doesn't want one he offers less for the house so he can fill it in !

Thanks all for the comments, many valid points and i realize it comes down to what the individual wants for a ride, and i don't think i'm into the Foose wheel conversion. Like soild and speed, but one comment of alot of money for someone else's build made sense. I have just started looking, 2 years ago, but these Beaumonts go so fast that I have had trouble even getting in contact with the seller before the car is gone.

as for distance from me, everything is far from me except the north west territories, so not much fun getting to check out the car in person. I'll deal with it.

Again thanks, and any other's that come for sale, keep posting them, I'll check them out.
