Pontiac Public Relations also told me there were 1118 made for the US
and 107 for Canada.

Don't forget the 1969 Charger 500. The one that came before the Daytona.

There is a common theme here if anyone can guess what it is!

I was surfing the net and found this blog.  You folks seem to know quite abit aboot these cars and I want one.  I would like to put a collestion together of the NASCAR homolgated cars since I got my 69 Cyclone Dan Gurney Special and realized how few times manufactures had to do this... 69 with the Spoilers and Taladega, 70 Superbird, and 86 M/C and 2+2.  I will have to hit the lottery to get a Bird but the others are within reason.  So my questions I hope may be answered here:
I have located a 2+2 that is claimed to be the original owner 51k miles.  She states that the car has 1 tail pipe. I know the M/C's are dueled out thru 1 Cat.  Since the 2+2 is down on horsepower it seems to reason that the car came with single exhaust but all the pics I have found show cars with 2 tail pipes.  Also she claims the car has never been wrecked.  I noticed that the grill emblem (Pontiac 2+2) is located on the passengers side whereas all the pics I find show it to be on the drivers side.  This is the VIN 2G2GJ37H3G2288036. Can anyone tell me the number it relates to out of the 1118 made? Is it the 36th (036 being the last digets) made.  The reason I ask is that my Cyclone is in the Winged Warrior registery and is the lowest known VIN thus is the 1st known survivor... she wants 6k so the price seems inline with trends just not sure if the car is legit 51k because of the duals and the grill emblem

The 1986 2+2 came from the factory with single exhaust only.

Yes, it is a single system right to the outlets on the muffler. Then "dual appearance", kind of like a Grand National.

Yes, but that would not be the original setup. It must have been changed or it's not a real 2+2.

There is one for sale here, if any of you is still interested. Not mine, but was for sale a while ago for a lot more money.

Its near Bridgewater, NS, I've seen it a couple of times but never looked closely. My dad sold Pontiacs in PEI from 1957 to 1968, then sold Chev until 1985. My first speeding ticket was in a 66 Parisienne 327 2 door HT, my first accident in a 60 Parisienne 4 door post car, dad was driving and a drunk hit us from behind.

There was one in a scrapyard up by Londesborough about 13 or 14 years ago. The front end had
been smacked on it but the rest of it was in pretty decent shape. I don't know if the fella would even still have it or not. Said he was gonna hang on to it back then but who knows? It had a lot of good parts left on it at any rate.

A friend of my has two of these Aero Coupes. One half decent  and one rotten parts car. The parts car was picked up in the Tri Town area and the good one is a two owner local Timmins car.
