Depends on how much repair  lol    but I definetely would use GM with small repairs
e.g. I spoke to a fellow last night, who has a Texas "rust free" "perfect" 66 big block beaumoint hood with perfect louvers for 800  He says everyone at flea markets say they rather go re-pop... confuse      oh and yes I bought it/spoke for it......

GM parts all the way!

There was a fellow on another forum who installed brand new "offshore" spindles on his Chevelle and ended up having ball joint failure while driving due to the less than perfect spindles. He is lucky it didn't destory his car or kill him.

GM ( or any other major supplier ) for me when possible.
No matter what the make of car there is a lot of repro crap out there. This holds for mechanical parts as well as body tin and emblems etc.

But just to be honest there is some good repro but you have to search it out and know what you're looking for.
The recent "certifying" of reproduction parts by the NA auto makers has help raise the quality of some repro parts.

OEM doesn't seem to mean much any more. Bought some tune up parts from DELCO as the car owner want OEM checked the boxes " MADE IN MEXICO" on most, next will be MADE in CHINA

You've got that right Pete! Some GMC trucks are made in Mexico!

And some Mexicans are made in Mexico too!!! Couldn't resist it! I'll take a GM part over anything
of course IF it's available. Sometimes yer better off to grab a chunka tin and play with it and mould it to whatever contours you need when it's a body repair. When looking for parts anymore it's like an old joke: "Hey! Didjya hear the one about the China man and the Mexican guy? Fill in your own punch line but it must be in relation to after-market parts. LOL!

Oh, don't kid yourself. We already see India and China on GM boxes. Also Taiwan.

I think OEM if repairable before repop stuff. Haveing plenty of fit and finish issues with my sons 67 camaro. Most of his car is Dynacore and goodmark parts. It seems hit and miss. Passenger side fender and door gaps looking good but driver side a mile off. Will try to repair my OEM sheet metal on my Beaumont and Repop as last resort.

I used re-pop trunk pan extensions in the Lemans as it came with them when I bought it. They both fit OK, but there was a difference in metal thickness. One welded in with no issues, the other would burn through very easily.

I have been retired 10 years and selling used OEM parts among other ventures.  I sell parts all the time to people that say they tried the repop, (mainly trim, not sheet metal) and were not happy.  Now they want truly original used, hopefully rustfree parts and if necessary, they will repair or restore it.
