350 Block queries


Sorry if these are Ch******t, but I am stumped with this query. Can anyone i.d. the blocks please?

I am in the united kingdom, and have a few 350 small blocks , they are canadian, and need to age them correctly so as to choose one pre 1991 so as i do not need to fit cats to my kit car, please can you help.  they are casting number 10054727, and the numbers stamped into the front ledge is below i appreciate they are 86 onwards but need to be able to prove there year of casting.

On the back, on the side opposite where the 10054727 is, does it have a group of numbers and letters? On the blocks in the 60's and 70's the casting date is there.

Decoding the Assembling Plant

The single first letter will identify the assembly plant where the engine was manufactured, such as "K" for St. Catherines, Ontario, or "V" for Flint, Michigan. Breaking it DownEngine identification code K0830C denotes the engine was built at St. Catherines on Aug. 30 with the "C" standing for the 1957 Corvette with a three-speed manual transmission.

On some blocks the date code is on the passenger side by the motor mount. This is of my 74 block.    4-B-28  ,  74-Feb.28th

These are 1980s at least engines I gather...when did that casting stop being used please?

If you can't find the suffix, if the other smaller stamped #'s are there on the pad, counting backwards from the end the 8'th digit indicates model year..
