Im rebuilding the Straight 6 in my 63 Acadian SD Convert
what colour should it be ?
I think as well that the firewall should be red
and inner fenders and rad support should be black.
Im just not too sure what colour the motor should be.
Thanks

One thing that I am guessing that may not be original in the restored engine pic above is the ignition coil. You will notice in Stephenzone's pic of his car pulled apart that the coil is an aluminun finish. Pretty sure that is correct for Canadian cars. I've been witness to 3 Acadians in the past year, 63-65 that all had the same aluminum coloured coil.

And before someone gets excited, I'm not criticizing that restored car. It's absolutely beautiful. I pointed out the coil in case Lefty is bent on making his look all original.

You are correct carl,  GM used bare aluminum coils in canada up untill the late 60s
I'm not sure what year they stopped.  it might have been 67?

OK OK You guys are 100% right. I took the coil and put it on my buffing wheel to clean it up and ended up turning it chrome. So I cheesed out and painted it black. There's a proper aluminium one on it now. No foolin you guys lol.

LOL, I hope you don't take it personally Terry. I love the car!

I just wanted to make sure that if someone is doing an "anal" restoration and using your pic that they realize that is how it was when it was new.

Dan, why would you say red for the firewall?  I would say it should be the satin silver color of your exterior.  At least, my Acadians and Canadian Nova are painted body color on the firewall.

Man, I totally missed that. Yes, I would sure think white. The firewall on my nephew's 63 white wagon is white.

The original color of the car is "V" Red
I painted it Silver in early 80's because every Acadian and Chey II i saw was red and i wanted something different so i painted it the same as my 76 Seirra Classic Pikup.
Now im going to restore it to as close as i can get it to original
Thanks for all the info

Oh wow, you have a project ahead of you. Good stuff, keep the pics rolling.

Is the car pretty solid?

It seemed to be but we found some rust in places that looke solid
(check out pics) but it is solid now.. when i found a large amount of scale inside the
frame rails (ones that only convert has) i decided to lay a strip down the whole length
as well as a piece up the inner side. Check out more pictures at
http://63acadian.com/
Hopefully can start priming these week...
