63 Beaumont SD trim

Now that I have your attention can anybody give me detailed pictures of all of the individual pieces of trim that make up a 63 Beaumont//Acadian SD and a normal model. I need to know all of the pieces and the differences. Thanks

Do you need actual photos or would a scan of each parts page help?

Whoops, I spoke too soon! My Acadian parts book is in a binder I had to make semi-permanently assembled since it was falling apart. It won't open up enough to fit in my scanner. If nobody else comes on to help, just say so and I'll do it another time for you.

Anyone have a loose leaf version of the parts book?

Does anybody have a close up of the finned piece between the upper and lower SD trim. I assume the tim has four pieces. Upper, middle, lower, and the front cap. A picture of the real pieces off the car would be better.

I am one of those guys that if I have the trim I will build a car and if I don't I won't. I have been looking at a pile of trim but it makes no sense to me. Just looking for some real photos of the trim of a 63 sd off the car up close and the differences between the sport coupe and the SD. Thanks

For some reason, I don't know why, in the years I've been looking at my 63 SD and pictures and other actual 63's failed to take note of the difference between the side moulding insert on the 63 Beaumont and the 63 Beaumont SD.
Suddenly yesterday a light bulb came on and while looking at Terry's 63 Beaumont pictures, I realized the center insert on his car is totally different than the center insert on my SD.
On this forum, several people have asked what is the difference between the Beaumont and the Beaumont SD.  I have answered with the items that are known to be included in the Chevy SS and Acadian SD, Z03 option.  I have never mentioned that the side insert is totally different on the SD cars.
So, in addition to the emblems, guages, console, floor shifter, buckets and the lack of a side trim on the rear quarters, the insert is different.  Also there is a very small plain trim on the lower edge just above the rocker.  That is the only piece that my car is lacking.

here is rocker panel chrome better than picture (too much refelection)
bought them in portland for $30 along with a vacumn trunk release (rare)

I was lucky about 30yrs ago to know
a chevy - pontiac parts manager
he got me a lot of chrome for 63 prices !!
eg:
fender spears $20 pair
front of fender (u shaped piece) $3.50
hood emblem $6
nearly all of side chrome (still have on shelf)

that only pieces i could not get were the main piece
across trunk so i paid $100 to have mine re-plated
then 1yr later he called and said a package from Quebec
showed up but i said i had everything. Turned out to be
a brand new in box trunk piece for the huge price of $25..

Have you always had the rocker moulding on your car??  Is that just a personal preference?  I know I have those on my 62 Nova convertible but they are not on the Acadian.
Do you have the SD pieces that are just above the rocker panels?  These are the only pieces I do not have for my 63 SD but I've never seen any of them for sale in the last 5 years.
Thanks,  Norm

They were on the car when i bought it from the original owner.
So im assuming she did not add them on, in the original sales lit
they do not show but i have seen lots of cars with them on. I t would
be interesting to find out if they are original.
same with the front and rear bumper guards, i don't know if they were
available in canada or not.

Good to see that you have spare parts to keep that convertible going. You never know when somebody might ding one in a accident. That's the trick when it comes to these cars.

The guards do show up in the Canadian accessory catalogues but I have never seen if they were orderable from the factory as an option.

The guards were an option on the Chevy II, Novas and I would guess they were also available on the Acadians.  Certainly the Acadian dealers would have no problem ordering them from their accessory catalog.  Also, they are just a bolt on true to the accessory concept.
The full rocker mouldings are an entirely different issue.  They were original equiptment on quite a few Chevy II, Novas in 62 & 63.  Actually the parts were the same for these two years but one year they were all aluminum and the other year they were painted black in the very narrow grooves (63, I think).  The aftermarket repro's are all painted in the grooves to simplfy production.   The other reason I do not believe they were ever an option is they are not a simple bolt on item.  It is necessary to drill holes in the rocker and they came with brackets that were bolted to the rocker with a ledge on the top in order to hang the moulding for support in the center portion of the moulding.  This just doesn't appear to me to be something they would market as a bolt on accessory.
Again, IMO, I do not have any documents to support my theory,   Norm
