67 SD Silverglaze Metallic

A few years ago I sold a 67 SD project car that was originally painted Silverglaze metallic from the factory. It was a 738 car, and had only two options listed on the sheet from George Zapora -- 400 turbo and white wall tires -- It had the makings of a nice car, the frame off restoration having been started -- Unfortunately the motor and trans were gone when I got it and the engine serial # was listed as "not recorded"-- I just wondered if anyone knew of it? Im hoping somebody finished it.....

sounds like a nice car, if it was that far along then i'm sure someone either finished it, or its sitting as a project somewhere in a garage!

I'd like to see a silverglaze car in person... I might repaint mine the original colour one day...

Is yours a PP paint code Andrew? I think the chrome would jump right out nicely with that colour. It is a sort of a medium silver metallic.

Oh yes I found the VIN # for that car -- It is 73817 71108 822

George Z.  said it was probably ordered for drag racing ......

It was a black interior. The car was sold through a dealership in Sarnia, Ont. It never got far though I bought the car from a guy in Dutton. It had sat for years ..

I remember calling about a 67 SD in Dutton was maroon but coded for silver 396 auto, was in the tri ad 10 years ago

I always liked 67 Beaumonts and never had one, they were always too much money for my blood

Yes this guy had this one in the Tri Ad as well but it was repainted a lighter silver colour. He had a 327 built for it. I think the rear end had a 4 series carrier in it. Strangely enough it was in 1999, so it was around the time you were looking..

As far as 67 's being expensive you're right. I paid too much for the car but I wanted a 67 SD bad and I did'nt think I would get too many chances to buy one.

The funny thing is when I started looking for my parts car I came across another highly optioned 67 SD in the Tri Ad in Sundridge, bought it, and sold the silver car a couple years later. I got a good deal on the second car.... it was complete and came with the #'s matching 396 (in pieces) which luckily turned out to be completely salvageable and is in the car now :)

Somebody told me this car surfaced on Kijiji Toronto so I phoned and the seller gave me the VIN and its the car alright. It sounds like he picked up a few more parts for it and swapped out the rear end for a 12 bolt with 355's but it still needs to be completed..... It is for sale now and he says he will be taking it up to Barrie if it doesnt sell. Hes asking 10 g's for the car and its a roller.......

He doesn't give you much to go on for $10,000. Any idea what the body is like or how much of the trim he has or ?/

Could be a lot of fun.

I recall a lot of parts going with it when I sold and I think he has probably accumulated even more from my conversation with him.
I know some of the stuff is at his neighbours and so on, so half the battle would be rounding up what hes got and going from there.
As far as the car goes I though it had a lot of potential being that the frame was stripped and repainted with black glyptal and the floors were professionally done. There has been a disc brake conversion done but I was suspect since it was components from a boneyard and not complete.
Make no mistake there is probably a couple thousand hours worth of work there to make it what it could be but as I say the potential is there for a very unique car
It has not been on the road since 82.

Interesting! I wish I was going to Barrie in the near future to check it out! Mine was orginally a PP car, I'd like to see one painted one day...I may re-do mine in the correct code one day...or I might pick a nicer silver and go with that... silver wasn't 'in' in the late 80s, i went yellow...silver became way too popular through the 90s....now its a nice colour again!

This car in the list of 4 is antique pewter, not silverglaze...
