You must have one of those BIG Island rats under the hood causing a short biggrinbiggrin. If you only have 1 wire from the r to the coil, that is only hot when cranking. Must be spliced somewhere. confuse But if she runs, Driver nod.gif

Be sure to check the voltage if you have it hooked up with original wires...if i'm not mistaken, when you crank the motor over, 12 volts comes from the solenoid to fire the coil/points. When the key is in the run position, the voltage is supplied through the resistor wire....which drops to 6-7 volts. They did this so as not to burn out the points. If you are running a HEI setup, best to bypass the resistor wire, and come right off the fuse box, supplies constant 12 volts which an HEI needs....you can also then run that wire through a hidden switch that can be shut off...theft deterrent!!
