Hey guys.  I realize that I'm resurrecting an old string of posts but I found them quite fascinating as I am the guy who sold Tom the car in Saskatoon.  I sold the car 3 months after my daughter was born in 1998.

When I sold the car to Tom all of the side trims were in the trunk waiting to be installed - it had taken me years to find them all.  It's too bad that he had not taken the time to have them put on by the time it was resold in 2010.  It's also too bad that I was not a member of the site at that time because I would have happily bought the car back from him - sacrificing my right arm if I had to!

I apologize to the purists for changing the colour of the car - I was only 23 at the time and didn't know any better.  The tuxedo black was impossible to keep clean and the new colour ("Imperial Crimson" by British Leland) was eye catching with the white top and stripe.  Kavia Autobody of Saskatoon did the work during the winter between 1988 and 1989 - taking the whole car right down to the metal.  I took extensive photos of the bodywork being done and gave an album of photos, shop manuals and dealer promotional materials to Tom when I sold the car.

The motor was also rebuilt at this time.  I bumped up the cam a little bit (bringing it to about 350 hp) and the cylinders were also taken to 0.30 overbore.  If memory serves almost $2,000 in new parts went into the motor.

According to the build sheet I received from GM the original transmission was a wide ratio M20.  When I purchased the car in 1983 it had an M21 in it.  When that calved I had an M22 installed - which involved shortening and re-balancing the driveshaft.  Until reading this string I had no idea that the factory 4 spd made this car so rare.  I knew that that factory 350 hp cars were rare - only 9 of 65 I believe.  In fact, I got my stripe kit from a guy in Winnipeg who owned one of them - Butternut yellow and black.  I think there is a string of posts devoted to this car - it's the one that got wrecked while being trucked from New York to B.C. and had to be rebuilt.

I see that the car went from Tom to a new owner in Cochrane. I hope she has a good new home and that her owner enjoys her as much as I did.

I still have a few pictures of her and use the one I've attached as the home page on my phone.  Someday, when I have a few dollars to spare, I'll track down another Beaumont and start again . . .

I read thru this post when I first joined, its cool that you've followed up with the previous history.  I love stories like this, hopefully the new owner sees it and you can reconnect with your old car.
