Hi from Trail BC

Hey guys and gals, I just registered on here. Been lovin cars all my life , just got into the hobby 8 years ago though. Bought a 1988 Mustang GT, rebuilt the motor adding a few extra's, changed the gearing to 3.73, rebuilt the traction lock and raced it some. Sold it after moving to BC four years ago, miss racing...a lot. Benn slowly restoring a 73 Nova I bought my fiance'(wife now) after selling MY MUSTANGno.gifSo I told her I wanted to race her car A big NO from her. She says if you want to race, race the Pontiac. OK then fine by me, the 55 2dr post is going to be gasser style with a 460 Ford (sorry It's all I have right now), if I had a 283 make it a screamin small block power gasser. Oh well wrok with what you have when you are on a budget(no budget)...lol
I'll be active on here gang. I'm a member of Canadian Radder, Reapers online clubs/forums and a memeber of West Kootenay Smoke N Steel. Local car club in town. Name is WES.

well hello Wess i had the oppertunity to work in trail for a month in November.There was a nova sitting by the bridge on the hospital side across from the smelter,and there was a 63-64 impala across the street.Went to the collander for dinner,it was good.Welcome here and does every town have a bar called the arlington? Should make heads spin with a bb 460 in a 55 pontiac!

 Got lots of pics, I bought this car from Ed Project Cars in Calgary about 5 years ago. Had it shipped to Manitouwadge ON where I grew up, lived most of my life as well. Then we moved out here four years ago and brought it out with us. Not enough money to restore it right, tried selling it for a couple years. Had a few offers but not willing to loose money so it's time to do something with it.

 Took this pic last year where I have it stored, the headlights are in a box in the trunk.

 these two pic's were on the dealers web page, looked pretty good until I got it and took out the carpets. It needs a lot of floor work. The guy had a wooden block between the diff and gas tank so it would sit nice, wrecked the gas tank in transit.

Welcome here Wes.

I know the other guys are all thinking it, so I will say it. VERY cool car, way too cool to put a F___ engine in!

Yep I know but it's all I have, it'll be called "Blue Mule". I'd love to trade my 460/C-6 for a GM pwoertrain or better yet a 421 or 425 super rocket like my dad's dynamic 88 when is was just 4 years old. That car was a powerhouse.The 460 won't be perminent, just as long as I need it.

Welcome aboard to another Tri-Five in the West! I'm from Wa State. Save yourself alot of grief and put a Big Block Chev in it. Parts are more available and cheaper. Don't waste time with a small block. Torque and Dependability overcome High Rpm and broken parts.

Welcome to the site, that will make a cool gasser for sure.  Does the 460 have a front sump ? Is there room for a front sump in the Pontiac  ?

 I'm not %100 sure on oil pan, it's a running driving 79' F250 that was stiped out for resto that didn't get finished. I never looked just assumed it was a rear sump like my other Ford trucks were, I better have a look see be a bummer if I had to buy a pan.

 I 've heard of a 396 here that a towing guy has, or had. I may see about trade with this guy. I'm a ford guy but I really don't like to cross match engines unless you have some obscure brand that you can't get parts for ...Like a Hudson. Burns my butt when I see nice old ford or dodge hot rod and it has a chevy. Those cars should have the right brnd under the hood, how hard is it to find a motor from the detroit big three these days??

 In my case it's strictly a budget thing, maybe a little payback for all those ford A's with bowties under the hood..lol The 460 runs great and there is only 79 000 KM on the odmeter. If I had some dough I'd be buying a crate motor like a 502,maybe...I have lots of work to do before the engine goes in so I may find a GM powertrain by then,

Welcome to the site. That pathfinder will make a great drag car. There is something very strange with your id plate. The trim code is not listed in my Paint and Fabric Selector. There were only 3 trim codes available for the Pathfinder series. Code 500 Black vinyl/ grey pattern cloth 502 Brown vinyl/Straw Textured vinyl and 524 light Green vinyl / dark green textured vinyl.. Is your interior all black vinyl? There is not a 55 chev 625 trim code either. Your car was built fairly early in the production time frame.

52211605840

5=1955
22= Pathfinder
11= 2 door
6=261 six cylinder
05840  = sequence number of all 1955 Pontiacs built.
Engine W 4005  sequence number of 261 six cylinders built
Trim  625    Mystery
Body Serial 687 Sequence number of 2 dr sedans built
Paint 551 Lancer Blue

Welcome aboard. As much as I don't like the idea of a Ford engine in a Pontiac I say go for it a guy has to do what a guy has to do.
