here's another one.

The side looks pretty good. This will sound nuts but I always thought that shelf paper would work as an interim measure, Mac Tac or whatever they call it. It comes in 24" wide rolls and it is plastic coated to resist spills in the kitchen so it would probably be durable enough. It comes in lots or wood grain styles.

The tailgate is in full reflective mode due to the camera flash, that's why it doesn't look as dark as the sides in that pic. Remember those late 70s early 80s black shortbox ford pickups with the orange and yellow graphics on the sides? They were a rolling lightshow at night, same vinyl as used on stop signs, railway crossing signs etc. I was really surprised to see it in woodpanel vinyl on these old wagons.
