1960 GMC 1/2 ton fleetside 910

The shoulder is feeling much better it took about 2 months to actually get to a point where it doesnt feel like it is going to fall out of the socket. lol.

Been back in the shop and sanded the frame down for the final prep before paint and torsion bars are to be lowered. Had to cut and remake 2 cab mounts and welded them all back in. Just preparing the bottom of the cab and then should be painting time for both cab and frame. But first going to mock up the 261 to the turbo 350 to make sure it is ready to go! Saving some money up for a disc brake kit for the front that allows me to keep the 6 bolt pattern.

ps. The 72 street stock is 68 chev c10 with a 75 chevelle chassis. My dad doesnt want me driving this one until I can master the old 72 chev pickup that was the old stock car. Possibly going to be driving in october up at a dirt track. It has been quite a few years since I have been in a race car... 8)

Hey Tiff,
Gladda hear the shoulder is coming around for ya! Make it easier for ya to hold that torch eh? Looks like you're going right to town on the project! As far as my '61 GMC goes, I'm still amassing parts for it but am driving it every day as it's intact. Last week I did something I never thought I'd ever see myself do. I spray bombed it to protect it for the coming winter! I drive the truck year-round so I felt it was important to protect what's there. Actually it didn't even turn out to bad; for spray bombs that is. YIKES! Oh well, at least it's well protected until next spring when I start doing the tear-down and rebuild again. Keep us posted on your progress Tiff! Looking like you're getting lots done and one last thing, good luck should you get back into the racing again.
Kick butt girl! LOL!

Past week has been busy busy!!! Lots of degreasing and even the thaught of it makes me shutter. It lurks and when you think you have it all ......oh theres more!!!wtf.gif lol.  So the bottom of the cab is painted and the motor.  In the picture it looks blue but i assure you it is not. It is alpine green, and added a bit of white to it with a lot of pearl.  My firend, Myk came over to lay the paint down as I am not comfortable spraying anything that isnt primersmile

Just think! Once it's all done up, you can wear Alpine green eyeshadow to compliment it when at cruise nights! LOL! Sure is starting to look fabulous! It's great you're keeping us up to date with all that you're getting done to it. Can hardly wait to see the finished product. What colours will you be painting the exterior and interior Tiffany? I had thought of doing my '61 GMC in red, but with the 9-foot box it's just TOO MUCH RED! I'm going to go with the original dark blue of that particular year (the exact colour name escapes me at this moment in time) and then the interior I'm doing in a smokey/greyish blue; which is also an available colour for that year.

Why not just post them anyways? Can't hurt. I got my paint chip board free from McGee's after I ordered a bunch of manuals. I had just sent an email asking if they had anything like that and Nicola said she'd send me one free of charge. I thought that was pretty nice of them. Some people might say, "Yeah, but how much did you spend on the manuals?" but they could have just as easily told me they want $5 to $20 for it; ya never know. So post it anyways it'd be great!

That would be neat to see the paint code chips... I wont be going stock colors but still a good thing for future refrence.

Heres a little view of the mockup of the 261 to the turbo 350.

Hey that's going to be a neat little truck!  I've always been a fan of the front end of the '60s, especially the hood!

Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress... it's fun watching a project come to light, especially when somebody else is doing the work!  biggrin

By the way, here's a chart of the GMC commercial colors (below the Ford...), but they are for the US and I don't know if it's the same for Canada.  Follow the link below:

There was a fare amount of dialogue on the virtures of the 261 inline six in a performance point of view. Therefore I have "bumped" the thread from March sometime and perhaps Tiffany or anyone else interested in 261's read the thread  "6=8".

For a six banger, the 261 was (can still be) a kick-ass engine.....in my viewwink!

Hi Tiffany's dad here, she has been busy on the truck as of late and working a lot so I thought I would just post a quick update on her truck, she has the firewall painted and the cab back on the frame and is just waiting on the brake kit.I don't want to step on her toes so I will let her do the proper update on her progress. We are also working on my old street stock truck that she will be racing at Merrit until we sell it so our plate is really full this year! here is her truck as of today..

Tiffany has a update,we had time today to move my race car and race chassis out of the shop and roll Tiffanys truck onto the 2 poster to get that drop spindle kit on and PB setup.Tiffany was real excited and we got everything apart except the right side lower joint! It was frozen and we broke 2 pickle forks to try and free it.Off to the parts store tomorrow for a new industrial strength pickle and and hopefully I can get some replacement lower ball joint dust cover/boots.Here she is just before we started.

Backed off those torsion bars first!
