Yet thousands of fisherman are losing their money. CNN showed birds covered in oil. It makes me sick.

That money should have gone into a Quick response relief fund to maybe help pay people to clean the wildlife or compensate local fishermen. BP is run by arrogant fools with a poor track record of safety. Read a story about one of their refineries a few years ago that told of neglect.

Why don't they let us send down some of our Canadian boy's..there was a professional group from Vancouver that wanted to go and help organise the clean up effort and they were told they were not needed at this time...?????? WHAT!!!!! NOT NEEDED!!! talk about arrogant!

I feel sick about this too. We all rely on oil and we only "hope" the companies that collect it for us are responsible.

Of course I am upset with BP but look in the mirror people we share the blame. I have 5 cars on the road with a combined displacement of 1,560 cubic inches and some 1,200 horsepower that uses up a lot of fuel.

I keep thinking what have I ever done to make sure a disaster like this did not occur and better yet what am I going to do? Anyone willing to give up their V8?

Oh, I feel pretty guilty too. It's our addiction to oil that is partly to blame. What bothers me is there should have been safety protocols in place however BP and the other companies in the gulf lobbied the U.S gov't to allow them to forgo a safety valve (at a cost of 1 million per rig) that would have prevented this.

Isn't it funny that gas prices haven't changed? If a hurricane had caused this we'd be paying $1.30 a litre right now...

What about natural gas? I assume it's safer to extract from the ground and it is in abundance.
