Why would anyone want to be cured of this great disease?

That last line seems pretty true. I seem to meet a lot of guys at cruises who have allowed the "car" to ruin their marriages. From that point of view it is a disease that should be cured or at least treated by providing your wife with the same respect as the "car".

Agree with Ray. Wife first, kids/grandkids second, dog third, cars fourth, then boat, then guns, then BBQ grille, then refrigerator with ice maker in the door. Although maybe the fridge is before the BBQ, that's a close call, eh?

WTF?? You can beat your car, you can make it ride rougher, you can change it's appearance, It won't get jelous when you ride in a different car, come home with another car's grease on your hands.....wink Seriously though If the wife can't stand the hobby get another wife. My wife is pretty understanding though, I'm a lucky man.aww

Well then you just proved my point Mike.

A Car is just a bunch of metal and rubber. You have to prioritize what is really important in life. Why do you blame the woman? I suppose after being married 29 years I am a lot wiser than most of you young ones on board. Take my advice or not, when you are married 29 years give me a call.

Funny how this topic comes up again and again. I spent 10 years with my first wife (common-law) and gave up my car hobby. My 67 Beaumont was parked the whole time. She barely knew it existed and didn't care that it did. When she left in 2005, I swore I would never give up part of what makes me the happy soul that I am. I also knew that the right woman for me would accept my hobbies just as much as my personality. So, fast forward to today.... I met a great woman 11 months ago who had never been to a car show or a cruise night. I let her know what she was in for and now she is full of great car questions and loves going to shows and cruises with me when I am not working. This doesn't come without some give and take mind you..... we miss some car stuff to do family activities with her 2 kids but I don't feel like I have to give up anything. Kids and family make life worth living....old cars are just icing on the cake.
