I purchased the car in 1996 in Omeme, Ontario. Thats near Lindsay way. I started seriously looking for a 57 Pontiac a year before. It had to be like my dads car. A 57 Pathfinder Deluxe sedan. Had to be a 261 and a stick, like my dads. The car was a very solid and very original western car. Sold originally in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The car has been in Ontario since the late 80's. The car was originally two tone green and i went two tone silver and white because my dads car was this colour. I show the car in honour of my dads memory. It was always his favourite car of all the cars he owned and my dad was always a Chevy, Pontiac and Buick man but mostly Chevys. I started the restoration in September 1997 and finished in May 1998. I did all the work except for exterior paint and rebuilding the bottom end on the 261. When i bought the car it was very presentable as it was but i wanted to go right through it front to back to make a completly reliable car. I put on just over 2000 miles a year on it from May to October. I only deviated from my dads car by adding original 57 accessories. This car is loaded with many accessory options that i have added to the few options that were already there. This car is a complete joy to drive and i take it to countless car shows and cruises during the warm months. This is no cream puff trailer queen, built to be driven and enjoyed. Thanks for listening. George.

George that is truly a nice ride and kudos for your restoration talents. The car is striking with the coulor combo and with so many good memories of your dad that tops it.
I am impressed with the amount you drive it , with our climate we car people need our fix as much as possible.

What a fabulous plate DADHAD1. I am so envious of such a great plate. My other oldie is a 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Estate wagon that my mom and dad bought new in May 1974. On that car i have the plate DADS74. I got my dad that plate for Christmas 1986. I also show this car in memory of my late father Anthony (1927-1993). This car has 46000 miles and change on it. Original except for usual wear items and i detailed the engine and engine bay area. Its nice to see people appreciating their parents and showing due respect. You never know where you are going unless you know where you came from. Thanks for all the kind words folks it is always appreciated. George.

George, I know your car, I have seen it and photographed it often in and around the Toronto cruise circuit. I think the last time I saw it was at Thornhill one Monday night. It is a beauty. In fact I have your engine posted in the Library thread on engine colour.

I have a question about the trunk chrome style on your car.

My Laurentian has smaller Pontiac letters and two horizontal bars directly right and left of the letters. Yours, a Laurentian also?, has a one piece circle with two bars angled down much like a U.S. Chieftain. Also the trunk lock is in different locations.

Did Canadian Pontiacs come with two different trunks on Laurentians?

Halfbreed, my 57 is a Pathfinder Deluxe. The trunk trim that you speak of on yours would have only come on a Laurentian top of the line. My care represents the middle of the line. American Cheiftains had the same trunk trim as the Canadian Pathfinder Deluxes and bottom of line Pathfinders. That was the bottom of the line American model. The trunk lids them selves were the same and the trunk lock would be in the same spot and position. George.

Thank you Poncho Master, for informing me of the thread where there is a photo of my 57 261 engine bay. I never knew it was there until Ray informed me that it was there. Thanks Ray for regarding my 57 enough to put it there in the first place. It feels good to know that my fellow old car brothers appreciate the effort. Thank you. George.

Todd, our Canadian Poncho founder and father. Thank you for such an incredible and fabulous site. This site of yours has to be praised and appreciated and i can tell you with sincere honesty that i love it. I am spreading the word to all the Canadian Pontiac brother and sisterhood out there at all the many shows that i attend. I wish i had some of your Canadian Poncho business cards to hand out to the many Canadian Pontiac owners that i run into at the many shows that i attend. If there is any way to get some. It would make it easier to spread the good Pontiac gospel. Todd i still have to purchase some of your Canadian Poncho items and yes i will do so and i encourage all other members to do the same. Lets keep this wonderful site alive.Again thank you Todd for all you efforts. Best damn Pontiac site on the net, bare none. George.

George, I have also seen your beautiful 57 in person. I also remember the 74 Caprice Classic Estate when I visited your house back in 1986 to purchase a few brochures from your collection. I still have them of course (1966 Pontiac, 1969 Pontiac & 1969 Beaumont, all Canadian stuff). I remember back then you had a 1957 Chevy Bel Air Sport Sedan with just about every conceivable dealer option on it. Your brother had the 1968 Beaumont that he had visually converted into a Chevelle. I remember your disgust at him having done so.

Rest assured, if I ever get rid of the Canadian Pontiac stuff that you sold me, it would be given back to you. Nice to see you on board!

Cam.

That is just wild. I just have a vague memory of that time because at that time i was having too good a time, if you know what i mean. That is just fabulous brother and thanks for the memories, wow. Of course now i regret unloading many of the original factory brochures that i did at that time many years ago. I was very wraped up in Chevys at the time. I sold my 57 Belair 4 door hardtop three years ago on the internet to a gent in Victoria B.C., I will never see that car again, even though one of my sisters lives near by. Thank you sir for zapping my memory buttons. Thank you very much indeed. I hope we run into one another down the road soon. Cheers brother. George.
