RE: 1966 Malibu SS 396 Convert/1967 Impala SS 427 Convert

Thanks for that Jeff . Its amazing to me that George keeps giving more little numbers tips that make this a lot of fun actually. Interesting that he would put the SS427 ragtop and the 2+2 ragtops together there, thats really neat !

Yes  infact I do have a monthly vehicle listing report I will post today.  Besides my rag top I know of three others in existence, one in Calgary, one in BC Aztec bronze recently listed for sale on Kijiji for $85,000, One that appeared in Super Chevy from Ontario now in a dealer show roon in the USA.

The second buildsheet I requested from GM in the past few years now lists the rag top as 360 HP.  I will post today.

Before you post can you please make sure you blank out the two columns with the key codes recorded on them? Bit security sensitive!

The rest is fine.

There's a couple in Winnipeg. One is a blue one which I have lost track of but knew the guy for many years. The second one is black and was in the World of Wheels show a number of years ago but we never see it out at car shows.

img013.jpgimg022.jpgHere is a copy of the vehicle listing report and a new buildsheet I requested in 2009 from GM Canada on my Malibu.
With the two 1967 Impala buildsheets and letters from GM and knowing less that 13 Pontiac 2+2 Converts were 427 equiped we can sit down and do some arithmetic breakdowns on hardtop vs convert.

You are correct.  I met the first guy that purchased the blue rag top.  I remember it had power windows.  The car was for sale in a picuture Ad in the auto trader back then after being on fire and was sold with a malibu SS hardtop parts car for $1500.  We later hooked up to share notes his name was Cameron I still have his phone number.  The young lad was going to change the car from a Malibu SS 396 to a Super Sport 396 young and foolish at the time and we both did not know what we had.  I never kept in touch and the car may have since changed owners.

Yes George does not operate by just laying out all the breakdowns for camaro, chevelle, impala, etc.  how many 283's, 327's, 396's, 427's, hardtops, converts....  I guess if all data was on computer it would  be much easier to accomplish.

Yes, Cameron is the guy. We met through a mutual friend. Real nice guy. I have not heard any more of that car.

I see two other L34 cars (hardtops) on that sheet. Cool!

68SD will be excited to see that sheet. Always fun browsing them.

I can't read the handwriting beside the second car. What is handwritten there?

I located a real complete matching number regal red hartop in Hamilton one year ago and almost made the purhchase.  This Malibu had every nut and clip intact but was just to rusty to justify paying $10,000.  I still have the buildsheet.

You should be a detective I never even thought to look!

Beside the second car;   _006572 see page 39A

Funny the 11th car from bottom of sheet shows _006607 see page 39A

If you look at sheet under serial number column those are skipped numbers in the sequence???

Probably fell over on the assembly line and got damaged!!!

I love seeing GM documentation, especially with exceptions on it like handwritten things. Makes you realize those guys weren't perfect...

Closer look at the vehicle listing report at top of page says page 38.  So why were two cars pulled off the line and notation see page 39A?  Damaged as mentioned may be the best theory.

Hi Jeff, good to see you on here. I will keep an eye out for the motors.

The other Manitoba Impala Super sport 427 4spd car is for sale again that I was telling you about when we talked on the phone.

I would say your 427 4spd convert is one of 15-20 cars built with L36 M20 combo.

On the docs for the other 67 Impala Super Sport it says there were 39 SS coupes and converts built with the L36 M20 combo. Most likely less than half were converts.

On your docs the # of 43 built would be for both M40 and M20. Maybe even a couple M13 3 speed's which was optional too.

With your docs did you get a information package of the 1967 chevrolet specs, features, options etc???

Andrew.

Hello Andrew with all the buildsheets popping up recently I could not agree with you more on your numbers breakdown.   That's a neat car in Dauphin with the "K" engine suffix.  I did not get a 1967 data package because the buildsheet I have came with the car at time of purchase.  I guess I would have to apply for a buildsheet in my name wth George Zapora to obtain the package.
Hey I noticed there is a nice 1969 Caprice 427 for sale today on Kijiji in Grand Marais, did you see it?

Jeff, pm or e mail me your address and I will send you out the 67 chev info package. I made a bunch of copies of it when it came with my docs.

Ya I seen the 69 on kijiji, there is also a 67 396 caprice for sale on kijiji from that area too.  Lots of B body BB cars for sale around here lately.
