My Son Grows Up

A little trip down memory Lane  showing the evolution of my son and collectable cars

First Picture  it was 1968  and he is two years old standing beside my 68 Beaumont SW  (327  275 hp  with  powewrglide with posi ;  couldn't get TH 350 in that model yet that year)

Second picture  1984  he bought a 67 Acadian SD  without motor and trans.  He installed a souped up 350 with TH350 and 4.11 rear end.  This was taken at Bremerton Race track west of Seattle

Third Picture 1990  he had restored the Acadian back to original  then he   had a full frame installed  plus he tubbed out the rear  put fat slicks on along with a dodge  4.88 rear end.  under the hood was a roller cammed small block which he cranked up to 9,000 rpm on the track.  I cried when I saw what he did to that car.  He said that he had to do that to keep the body from twisting on his race launches

Fourth Picture:  1997   His two sons beside car.   He found a body of a 1970 Malibu SS  in a old garage...which originally had the LS6 big block.  He did a complete  frame off resto back to original and also found numbers matching drive train.  For racing purposes  he would drop in a full race 427 chey, and was unbeatable in the Fraser Valley.

Fifth Picture1999  he saw  an ad in the Auto Trader for an original 1969  Camero  SS/RS 396  posted from Edmonton.  It was in driveable shape  with a bit of rust in the usual places.  He flew to Edmonton and bought it for 20,000  drove it back  and tore it down to the frame, put on new fenders  compeletly redid everything with new parts..rebuilt the drive train, etc.
He learned his lesson about bringing the old cars back to life.
During a divorce in the early 2002  he ended up selling the two chevy's for 40,000 and 75,000.

Sometimes I say things and then realize I'd better make sure everyone knows I'm only joking or everyone would think I was a tad on the demented side. The voices just made me write this by the way.

Cool thread!.
Kids and cars are THE best combination!.
Be proud of the obvious fine lad you've got there Chief!.

No comment on the women thing other than that's the quickest way I've ever found of thinning down the herd of a fella's toy collection!.

Fair enough although some of us were raised alongside brothers and can accumulate treasures with equal or better finesse.
