1995 Buick Roadmaster- Arlington Plant Video

Great video if you are a fan of the Roadmonster (and who isn't?)

Looked like a 9C1 on the line behind them as the video ended.

Great video. There are two Impala SS cars being built in the video. The first is a black one at 1:46 behind Chuck's head and the other is a Green one at 2:05. Thanks for sharing Todd.

Saw a number of Impala panels, rims etc in the video, just no good car shots!

Anybody spot a Fleetwood? Not one in sight that I saw.

Our Roadmaster has been a faithful servant from 01 until this summer. Easily one of the best cars I've ever owned...

Carl, I think it is safe to say that the Impala/Roadmaster and we can throw in the Fleetwood if you want, of this vintage are probably some of the best cars General Motors ever made. All we have to do is figure out why they stopped making them and what genius decided that.

I can hardly imagine it was poor volume. Heck, the police and taxi business alone should have kept that plant going.

Agreed, Fleetwood sales were low but the others must have made up for it.

If I am correct, Impalas alone made up 60,000 over the last 3 years that plant built cars.

As the last full body on frame rear wheel drive V8 GM cars you would think they will have some historical signifigance. They are DIRT CHEAP right now so go get one if you want one. The supply is dwindling. Especially the Fleetwood.

I found these photos on thetruthaboutcars.com. There's a guy in Columbus Ohio who is hoarding B body wagons. There's over 40 of them!

One in the photo is an Oldsmobile, did you catch that? Custom Cruiser I think is what they were sold as state side.

rear drive, 355 horse v8, 400lb-ft torque, heavy duty everything, ya baby!

no info on civilian model yet but an ss model based on the cop car platform

has been done before, its not that much to look at, but i thought

that about the old caprice for a while and it eventually grew on me

the last generation of caprice 9c1s, took a beating went like stink

i hope the new one is up for the challenge, as the 5 o are hard

If the next GM police car is based on the Holden Commadore, it will be a better car than the old b-body. I would trade my 3 b-body cars in a heartbeat to drive the G8 (Holden). It covers all aspects of the b-body and improves on some. The rear leg room is un beatable in the Holden, ride is superior, less wind noise, trunk is just about as large, 100hp more, 6 spd transmission, and the overall style is nicer. GM really has built a really good car, the only drawback is that it is across the water and they have dropped Pontiac which was the original plan for a car on this platform. GM would be foolish not to sell this model in some way to North America.

i guess the market will decide, I cant imagine GM wouldnt sell
it to the public if there is a strong demand, Its a well liked model
platform in other parts of the world

Hey, wait a minute now!!! Don't you go bashing old technology on here!  Aren't you the guy who just purchased one of the absolute worst handling GM vehicles ever made??? (65 Acadian)   laughing.gif

Although it is kind of pretty!

I won't bash old technology, after all it was these lessons that made the cars better with time.  The G8 feels safer over 200km/h than the Acadian does at 100km/h.  Not sure why Ralph Nader didn't include Novas and Acadians in his bashing of the Corvair. First generation Novas and Acadians are not safe cars by any stretch of the imagination.  There is a huge difference in a b-body in 95 compared to 65 too. I think that difference can be seen again in 2009 with the Holden platform G8.

None of the cars from those days were safe. I still am amazed people drove cars like my 58 Dodge in the winter on bias ply tires with 4 wheel manual drum brakes and a single master cylinder. Every time I'm about to press the brake pedal I say a little prayer!

Tood everything is relative. I can remember talking to my Dad about WWII and how rudementary the ships and guns on them were as he was in the Navy. Remember or visit on HMCS Haida.

He told me that that was leading edge in 1944 and they were amazed to be part of it. I think a lot of people were shocked to see the bridge of the Haida was actually outside with no roof. That's just one example.

I feel the same way about the brakes in the LeMans Todd, but it always seems to stop.
