Your first pose?

Here's a challenge for the weekend. We are all car enthusiasts, but how young were you when you got "the bug"? And everybody back in the day stood by thier favorite kiddy car, family car, farm tractor, etc. for a picture.

The challenge is: dig around and find the oldest pose of yourself by a vehicle.

If your first picture was taken by a digital camera thingie....you're too young to appreciate this. And if your first picture was taken with a flash by someone holding an explosive of some sort, chances are, your first ride had four legs.

Let's have some fun. Here's mine. Can you guess what the little convert. is?

In the B&W pic I'd be about 3 , the one with me in the jean jacket I'd be about 7 and the one with me sitting on the car I'd be about 11. The car finally bit the dust in 1981. Yes, I really need that 2+2!

I can picture the slide but I think my sister has it. Our family standing in front of the 66 Malibu wagon on her wedding day, April 8, 1967. I was 10 and had to wear some stupid wool dress pants that made me itch the whole day!

The more I see this car the more I want one. Out of all the "big" cars the 61 is for me.

Here is my dad carrying me when we first looked at our bus when it was still in the remains of Al Carters old wrecking yard in Lamont!

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/3/256/4021/25639510001_large.jpg

And I remember this as if it were a year ago, even though it was 26 years ago, and I have short term memory issues... hey look a Canadian Pontiac site! bucktooth.gif

It's not my earliest photo, but I can find this one, and it has a happy ending for the bus too!

Wow, I love that last picture.

Now there would be a pretty big recreation complex directly behind you in the picture.

Ever do any wheelies on that Z50????? laughing.gif ( I am guessing maybe a couple!)

The answer to the convertable quiz is correct as it's a "Caravelle".

Mom and I cruised the streets of Lethbridge, Wateron, and even down to St. Mary's Montana once in this little gem. I don't think I've seen them since the 60's?

Great response EVERYBODY. These shots truely indicate back in the day that vehicles where apart of our lives and a part of the family. Good work and great memories!

D.T.

I knew I had this one.

This shot was taken around 1964 or so. It's at the train station in Banff.

Who knew that I would end up spending most of my working days around highway coaches and tour buses. It must have been an omen back then.......
