Can you estimate what this "little make over" will cost?                           Most car guys, are shocked, at rumors of paint jobs being $6000.00       Thats on a car with no body work..  Shop takes it apart to bare and put back together..    Have you hit 10,000 yet   (you can pass on telling us the cost)

Just wondering.... a lot of cars get bought as a project, and stalls out when body and paint estmates are realized

427carl .6000.00 is not out of line for a really good paint job ,it also matters what color your painting, ie : black cars the body has to be arrow straight or all the flaws will show ,red is the most expensive color you can buy as there is a lot of coulr pigment in the mix.My color Jewel red is a very expensive colur as its a tri coat color ,1 coat of base red ,one coat of factory pearl Met ,one coat of clear .just to fill you in on pricing ,i buy alot of product from my paint and parts supplier so my discount is around 55 % off of a average guy walking in and making a purchase. My paint (colur)1 gal ,pearl met (1 gal ), clear (1 gal ), hardner for clear (1 quart) reducer (1 gal ) was 1500.00 my cost and i get 55 % off. Painter is a really good friend of mine who doest it for a living  charges me 500.00  just to shoot my complete car . I also rent a down draft paint booth with a bake oven from another good friend for 200.00 flate rate ,normaly he charges 200.00 per hr for the booth .bottom line if you want a show car paint finish on a vehical these days certain colors 6000.00 is the average shop price nor is 10,000 out of the question .
