I have a 1971 Acadian brochure, plus I have a 1971 GM Canada mailer that features among other things a 1971 Ventura II. The mailer is postmarked to my old address that we moved from in December 1970 and was redirected to the house we lived in since that time. Based on the sweepstakes offer in the mailer I would say that it came in the mail around February or March of 1971.
In Canada up to that point a Pontiac dealer carried the Acadian line, but in the U.S. Pontiac had nothing smaller than a Tempest to that point. The original use of the Ventura name was as an upscale interior trim option on a Catalina badged as a Ventura. The first Venturas were made from 1960 through 1970 models, hence when the new Ventura compact was introduced it was as the Ventura II.
