RE: GM Documentation

Elroy, send me a VIN to work email and I will see what I sent you
george.zapora@cc.gm.ca
the reason I prefer work is that way it comes to me, I do not have time to visit all the various forums that are out there on a regular basis.

Lefty, no problem, at least we got it sorted and the car is properly documented, that is what matters. It is hard to keep track of changes to the packages over the years, info does pop up now and then. Remember this is a hobby, every one of us should be able to sit with anyone else on a lawn chair in a garage somewhere and shoot the breeze about old cars, with the garage door open, getting eaten alive by mosquitos, because this is Canada after all!

Hi George, thanks for what you do. This is such a great inside track to our Canadian sport. As to my question, you listed on my 67 427 2+2 Ragtop 4 speed car that there were less than 13 built with this combination and I have always wondered how many were actually built ? Not selling the car so I am not worried about value just neat to know.

I seen this topic and called George today with the same question as you Elroy about my Biscayne.

Thanks for the great service George.

I have only had 2 cars documented but am very happy with their work. Even though there was a error on 1 they fixed it for me and send out new papers. As stated before it was not the fault of the people issuing the docs. It was they could not red the info they had.
I also called George today just to personally tell him what a great job they do and we should just be happy we have their services.

Well then, you need to make this forum, (the best one on the internet), a priority George!

I checked George, it was done April 25 1991. The year is wrong and the interior colour is listed as light fawn instead of black. Not a big deal really though, just one of those things.

Thanks for your posts George. I think some of us take this service for granted. George does the best he can with the resources he has (I can imagine some of these micro fiche's can be difficult to read). I for one just want to say thanks for your efforts.

I agree with Todd. I also want to echo my thanks for the service, George. I've had 2 cars done and was happy with both.

We are lucky to have the documents George has sent us. My car and my dads were 100% correct. The guys down south would love this option.

GM Vintage services and George Z's work is a service that I think many guys just take for granted. We are so fortunate to have this service and someone who really cares about getting the correct documents out to us. When GM was dropping dealers and killing Pontiac, I thought for sure that we would lose this service all together. Glad this service is still available and thankful for George, his hard work and dedication to our hobby.

Thanks for all the hard work and research over the years George!  worship.gif

Keep up the great work! winner.gif

Thanks George, the info on my Acadian SD was "right on". It's not the solid lifters it's the high lift camshaft!

Carl S I see what happened, your package was done by the summer students before Vintage took over, we started to charge in May of 1994, but offered both production numbers and selling dealer and tech specs. You may want to get it updated, but unfortunately a fee would apply in this case.

It's not really an issue George, thanks.

I have no problem documenting the correction for either typo. It's certainly not a 68 (!!) and the interior trim is easy to document as black also.

Thanks alot George for the clarification on my car. Gents the reference to less than 13 was to both of the models of the sport coupe and the convertibles had a total 13 L36, M20 cars so either model would be less than 13.

Thanks a bunch !

Rick this probably means the reference to 39 396 4spd 2+2 cars in your case would be both models too.
