Acadian trivia time!

You'll either know this one right away, or you won't have a clue...

What obscure option was found under the passenger front seat of a 65-67 Acadian?

Not what I'm looking for although that could be I guess. This is an affixed option though.

It was also in some other Canadian Ponchos as well but I happened to notice in the parts book tonight.

At one point long ago I think it has been discussed on CP somewhere or other.

Pretty close.

The underseat heater (heater core with a little blower fan) was available in Acadian of all things. some people know of it in the B body but you'd sure never guess it in the grocery getter econo car Acadian.

The parts are listed int the book from 65-67.

I forgot to mention, it's not electric, no.

The parts listed include hoses, elbows etc for the core.

Wonder how many Acadians were ordered with that heater? 1 or 2 maybe??? I've never even heard of such an option. Any idea what it cost? Probably way too much money for anyone to consider it since they were buying a "cheap" car to begin with.

Never heard of an actual installation, no. It seems so crazy to offer it in an Acadian!

Although they have crappy heaters at best, nothing like a B body.

RPO code C47, Auxilary Underseat Heater. It was a rare Canada-only option that retailed for $7.15 in 1967. On Chevelles & Beaumonts it was listed as unavailable in conjuction with either A41 Power Seat or A51 Bucket Seats (or Sports Option).

That sort of thing is something you would normally find on a School Bus (in these parts anyway.)

A slightly related odd option I once found on a Canadian Pontiac, was a heated rear defrost on about a 73 fullsize, it was coolant heated. Had a heater core about the size of a pocket book and blower fan mounted on the package shelf, coolant lines ran up to the front and tied into the heater lines. Never seen one before or since.

whas this  dealer installed  or factory  ??????

7.15   was about  a day of work    back then...........................when  i was 4 years old !!

never heard of that option.  I would  imagined  more on a full size pontiac........but  on an acadian  ????

probably  because of  a pour  heater design , that wasn t to  efficient

i guess they  sold those  in the nothern  parts  of the country   like............................Winterpeg   or something  like that

If you had a V8 there was so much floor heat you didn't need a very good heater!

Darn,... I was hoping someone had finally found where GM Canada put the Pontiac emblem.....

At least you found proof it was a car built for the Canadian market!  biggrin
Dan

P.S. Mike, I didn't sell you that car so you could take it out into a field and get the wheels dirty! I guess I better drop the pic from my avatar...... wonder what I have to dig up?
