Looks like a cast iron intake and a Quadra-jet. Not an L72.

How about this?

Thanks Vince.

Carl, don't get me wrong, I like that 69, looks great, but for 50G it should be represented properly. I think this car was discussed on the SS427 site for the same reason.

6634909-700-0.jpgTalking about the red '68 SS427 on Old Ride that car is also listed this month in Hemmings with lots of pictures.

The red colour combination with the beige interior and bench 4 speed set up is very appealing, and someone has gone to a lot of trouble to put all the tags and chalk markings on all over. Having said that, it is unlikely to have left the factory with the hideways and the bodywork on the rocker panels looks like it needs to be seen close up.

Now is 50 grand the going rate for an SS427? Dunno, seem to be several in that price point area right now.

PS the blue '69 SS427 Sport Coupe that is the main topic of this thread is my favourite body style of the '69 B bodies.

I remember on another thread the discussion was Ste. Therese production of Imapalas. Seems there is more then one Ímapala with hide aways where it's was popular beleif this was a Caprice only option?

The red SS427 guy is correct in talking about the differences between the Z03 and the Z24 packages.

6773842-425-0.jpg6773841-700-0.jpgThis month in Hemmings there is a second '68 SS427 with hideways!

Triple black with buckets console and a beautiful wooden wheel make this one a little more executive class.

Have to wonder what kind of money it will bring at auction.

Can't get enough of these SS427's.
Buyer beware though. You really have to know your stuff or have someone with you who does when purchasing. Could end up spending 50 grand on an L36 otherwise.

Documentation is one important element. There seems to be lots of that with the blue '69 SS427 even if it is missing a few things.

Here is a nice '67 SS427 also up this month in Hemmings.

In my opinion the '67 dashboard rocks!

67 Impala dash with gauges is probably the best looking FS Chevy dash of the 60s.

my first musclecar was a bright blue 68 ss clone. it was a 454 w/ 4spd. i was only 16 at the time. $2.65 per hr, minimum wage barley covered the gas and tires.

Nice colour and I guess you save 20 grand for 31 less cubes.
And 100 less horsepower.

Recent resto. Always wonder about documentation of the restoration.

But did I mention I love that dashboard!
