2 quick questions ......... need answers

1.
does the 64 CS Parisienne with a 283 come with dual exhaust?

2.
how can you tell if the 283 on a 1964 CS Parisienne is linked to a 3 speed synchromesh or a powerglide without sicking tour head underneath the car???

tks

Max

didn't know the 3 speed synchro was a true manual transmission (stick shift)
i taught it was like an overdrive trans!!!

the shifer handle most likely won't line up with the proper letters on the console. A stick on decal is available to correct this problem for both 3 & 4 speed autos

i don't want to make a switch or buy a sticker

i want to know what to look for on the shifter (CS Parisienne) to know if it's a powerglide or a synchromesh

there must be a difference in the console , but i don't know about it
anyone have pictures

If it's a Power glide automatic, it will only have D & L +park & neutral & reverse transmission only shifts once from low to Drive!!! Also reverse will be at the bottom of pattern. If it's a standard 3 spd, it will have a 'clutch pedal & it's only syncromesh in 2nd. & 3rd !!! All 64's [as far as I know] came with the 3spd on the column, not on the floor. Way back when a friend ordered a 63 Pariseinne rag, buckets etc w/3spd "stick" NEW it came on the column!!! If later model trans installed it will shift 3 time [ auto] & have more forward positions on shifter eg. D 2 L may not show on quadrant unless owner changed the faceplate!! Hope this clarifies it for you???

Synchromesh is NOT automatic!!!

here is a AUTO console and a Syrchromesh console    (not '64 cars)
