here's my 81 Lemans, hope you enjoy the ride

Hey guys, salut les chums.  If Idid this right, you will have pics of my Lemansto lock at.  I got it 3 years ago from a guy who bought it for his son to drive while Grand Prix was being fixed.  It wasn't for sale but my buddy Francois and I stopped to have a look at it around 10:30 pm on a saturday evening.  The owner came out, asked what we were doing around his car! I inquired if it was for sale, he said no! I left my number anyway in case he ever changed his mind.  3 days later he called asking if I was serious? I said hell yeah! and 3 hours and $500.00 later it was mine.

As you can see, it was silver with some grey primer, silver rattlecan paint and I am sure some silver nail polish!  In the spring Francois and I started fixing the body by basically sanding down all the way to the original primer, fixing a few small dents and chips followed by my first attempt ever at paint.  I think it turned out ok for my first time working in a single car garage and a borrowed paint booth.

The interior is still original with the exeption of a cd player/amp in the trunk combo, 88 trans-am wheel, 87 Buick regal concert sound speaker cut-outs in the doors and a silver gauge package instead of the original black one.  My wife loves the bench seat/columm shift combo since she can sit scrunched up right in the middle.

Mecanically I am building a Pontiac 400 to replace the 3.8 in the spring.  Nothing over the top, just a basic 325-340hp engine to have fun with.

Ok, too much yapping, here are the pics (I hope)

Cool, it worked!  The wheels are 14 and 15 inch snowflakes that I have had for 25 years, they were on my 79 grandam in 84.  I have 4 other 15 inchersthat I am re-doing for summer installation.  That way there will be 15x7's for everyday driving and 15X8's to mount the slicks.  I am polishing the stainless trim that goes between the silver and blue for installation this spring.

I knew a guy that had an orange one like that in the mid-late 80's Quick car, couldn,t take my 69 big block camaro though. True story, later on in the summer, (88) if I can remember correctly, his neighbours hated the noise so much (tuning, wrenching, etc..) that they actually put out a hit on him! Tragically it happened, and they were arrested a short time later along with the shooter. If you are wondering where it happened, it was in Pincourt P.Q.

Very neat car !

A slope nose LeMans like that won the 1983 Daytona 500 with Carl Yarborough driving, just a little know fact. If you want the story behind it just ask and I will post it.
