seems like a lot of money for an engine that needs all of the head bolts and all of the other bolts and gaskets. looks like someone "assembled" it for picture day

An individual offered a relatively rare engine for sale for the price of $2000 and what did he get in return; rudeness, ignorance, and they both have different meanings; ie, you should get your dictionary out if you do not know the difference, comical levity, if you can call it that, insinuations that he is a criminal element hence needs the money, and generally no respect whatsoever. Everyone that commented about this ad should send an apology to the gentleman for what you wrote in this forum. He didn't even point out that most answers were gramatically incorrect and included words that were mispelled or not even words, ie, arnt, without the apostrophe or "whatup"; what on earth is that? Capital letters, to let the rest of us know that you are pointing fun at someone; PLEASE SPARE US, (see, its not nice). Not one person asked what the number or date codes of the block or heads were or what the condition of those parts were, what the internal components were or condition of crank, heads, valves, compression ratio, etc, only that he wanted more than they would spend. In the event you do not wish to purchase a part from this site, then fine; what do the rest of the quiet majority care of your opinion as to price or for that matter as to your idea of an individuals character. If you don't want anyone to post whatever they have for sale, keep it up. Would any of you like to post your items for sale and the rest of us can cut you up as to your price, quality or whatever? Lets not give the stupid answer that you were just kidding or that the ad was brought forward from another site. If you were looking for a numbers matching item and these fit the bill then the price would be more than reasonable. Try getting this stuff in the States and see how you like it. If you don't own a numbers matching car or don't need, much less want a big block, then so be it, but don't attempt to disgrace someone for offering parts for sale at a price that the market does bear. Anonimity, due to avitars, on forum sites such as this brings out this disgraceful conduct and there should be a conserted effort to control ones unsolicited harmful remarks directed at others. You can see by the individuals response, who I do not know, that he was upset and angered at the comments. If you are of the opinion this answer has been harsh in any way and that I am also protected by anonimity please email me and I would be pleased to give you my name and telephone number. This site, in my opinion, should not be judged by the vocal few that post for the sake of posting, as seen above, and it surely will if this keeps up. Unfortunately my response will only be shown on this particular page and as far as I am personally concerned it applies across the board on this forum, ie to each category. Hopefully this will be taken for what it is, an awakening as to the degree derogatory comments can affect others. Doug.

I hate to poke a bee hive, but I feel compelled to reply. I found this listing on kijiji, and posted it here.

1.  "and what did he get in return rudeness, ignorance"  no he didnt, we shared comments amongst each other, none of them were sent to the seller. In fact you were rude to assume that we dont know the difference between rudeness and ignorance.

2.  "and were I am headed I don,t need this motor" that statement by the seller would cause any reasonable person to draw conclusions, none of which were sent to the seller.

3.  "Everyone that commented about this ad should send an apology" You cant be serious. This aint a site for women to discuss purses.

4.  "He didn't even point out that most answers were gramatically incorrect" They werent sent to the seller, so whats to point out? This statement is far more rude, than anything else in the thread, and pointed directly at our members.

5.  "Not one person asked what the number or date codes of the block"  How do you know? It wouldn't show here, this is not where the engine is for sale.

6.  "In the event you do not wish to purchase a part from this site" CP doesnt own this engine, and is not selling it.

7 "Would any of you like to post your items for sale and the rest of us can cut you up as to your price, quality or whatever?" Its unavoidable, I get both ends of the spectrum and everything in between,  and expect nothing less when I post to a public place. In this case, these 'cut ups' are a discussion between friends, and not sent to the seller. I dont know how many more ways to say it.

8.   "then the price would be more than reasonable".  I am new to the hobby and might be fooled by this listing thinking I can drop this nice shiny engine in my car, but thankfully the boys here at CP point out everything negative to help other members avoid mistakes they have made in the past. They are a great bunch, and have seen many tricks from sellers in the past. The comments posted may indeed help a youngster from getting less than advertised. I dont know if there are any selling 'tricks' in this listing.

9. "Anonimity, due to avitars, on forum sites such as this brings out this disgraceful conduct and there should be a conserted effort to control ones unsolicited harmful remarks directed at others." Firstly, there are no sites like this one. (I think you spelled avatar wrong, but for now,  we're fine with that here). I have seen disgraceful conduct, but only from you on this thread. Really....picking apart grammatical errors? I'm not hiding, all my data is real, and I am easy to reach, and I have found the same with every other member I contacted. What would we be hiding from?

10. "You can see by the individuals response, who I do not know, that he was upset and angered at the comments"  I believe he was upset with the responses received from his listing on kijiji via email or phone. How would he know what CP members say about his listing?

11. "This site, in my opinion, should not be judged by the vocal few that post for the sake of posting, as seen above, and it surely will if this keeps up" Unless I missed it, you are the only one judging this site in this thread. The overwhelming majority of judgements that I have seen, are excellent. I have many posts for educational purposes, not for the sake of posting as you assume. Maybe if the seller had posted information as to why there were missing bolts/gaskets etc....it wouldn't be left up to 'lookers' to guess.

12. "derogatory comments can affect others."  We agree on this one, but the difference is that the engine seller has no idea what we said about his engine, but I know what you said about us, and it obviously affected me, or I wouldn't have posted a lengthy reply.

All that being said, I think I understand part of your point.  Most car sites have all kinds of 'slammers' ready to cut you up. This isnt one of them. That engine may be worth more than 2K, but when you appear to 'slap it together' for a picture without so much as a mention of why it looks that way...let the skeptisism begin. Had a member posted the same engine with the same pics, he would likely have been asked to explain, but he wasnt here for questions, so comments from people who have bought engines before provide an education for the rest of us.

Rudeness and ignorance eh? If you look back at each post after the initial posting of the ad, all the comments are simply stating the obvious. It appears that your nose is out of joint Mr. "427strato" and guess what.....it's your problem! No need to make it a problem by accusing everyone on this forum of wrong doing. As for hiding behind avatars.....where is all your personal info? You can see all my personal info but there is very little about you. I'm sure the guys and girls on this forum would much rather see an avatar of my car instead of a mug shot of me. Besides, it's just a picture and I would be willing to say any of this to you in person.

Thanks "Turn2Stone" for the sensible debate. Well written.

Interesting!    It did make me look at my comments..

We were  commenting on a "public offering on Kijij"   and I think we operate in the comfort of our site ...
If someone thinks we are rude and ignorant, that is their right to say so...

I like the responses of  the last two members

and I do have a opinion, of the profiles, that are attached to each Avatar,  and it pisses me off,  but I will stop at that for today
