this could be cheaper

Although i really like my 283 it might be a little much for this stage of the game because it needs everything.... i would like to keep it but it needs a cam shaft full valve job all new seals and frost plugs... i have not ordered any new parts for it yet because Ive been shopping around and it's just to much for me in this stage of the game anyone know what i mean..... so i decided to find a couple of engines that are said to be running  good when pulled so all i can do is trust that people are not all scum bags that just want a buck lol.. so i found  305 that is complete also does anyone know how hard it would be to make it fit mine i know it uses the same mounts and most 283 parts will fit a 305 but it's a little newer and has a sensor or two on it i can see could i just plug those holes because im never going to use it but here is the link to the ad and yes it's on kijiji

P.S one last thing if anyone knows of a engine that was running when pulled if you could give me a shout or post a link on this topic Oh and any thought on the idea would be great btw my 283 will cost around 700 bucks to rebuild!

you may have dipstick issues if you use the 283 exhaust manifolds.350 and 305 dipstick locations are different.Look for a rusted out impala 80s then you will get a 350,or a p/u.Its usually cheaper to buy a whole car than a pulled moter

$700 bucks to rebuild the 283 sounds pretty good to me,must not need a re-bore?? At least you'd know what you got got/ $$$invested. Buying a used engine lying on the floor or on a stand is a bit "risky"  I'd want to hear it run & do a comp.test when it's warmed up a little, & some heat in the cyl.??????  Think before you LEAP!!!!!

I WOULD FIND A RUNNING RUST BUCKET. IT SHOULD BE CHEAP. YOU CAN HEAR IT RUN AND MAYBE EVEN TEST DRIVE IT. TAKE WHAT YOU NEED AND SELL SOME PARTS YOU DON'T. THEN SELL WHATS LEFT FOR SCRAP. THAT WAY YOU ARE OUT OF POCKET VERY LITTLE IF ANYTHING OTHER THAN TIME AND EFFORT.

Tiny gets the odd good running SB Chev. If you are serious I'm sure he'd keep an eye out for one. As for my 350, I want to keep it.

i wish my 305 was still together cause you can have it. there is probally alot of sand and dirt in it but when i pulled it, it was running but not very good, had the soft cam syndrome and 4 lobes were rounded out. Does anybody know what it would cost to get it cleaned? It was just going to scrap but if you can use it its yours. I had it in my trans am, but it was a junkyard motor as the original craped out.

the issue with my 283 is that the bore is messed up on the 8th cylinder just to make it match i would have to bore it 20-30 over..... there was a faulty oil ring  that scratched the crap out of it... well that's what my teacher. i blamed it on un proper care...even though my little 283 is messed up im still going to build it maybe 5 years maybe 20 lol only time will tell you guys know.... and pm sent

cars are an expensive hobby Jonathan!! LOL I just thought, if your looking for a truck still to use as a parts hauler and such, i will see if my father in law wants to sell his ford and how much. He lives in willow beach/sutton area. I know he has to sell it or give it to his son(which i dont think he wants it) cause hes not bringing it to mexico!
