I figure I might try to document the conversion of the 65 Laurentian, from power glide to a 4 speed Muncie M20. I'll ad that Carl Stevenson has been a invaluable resource on this conversion, and has helped me out immensely. thanks Carl! And be sure to check out Dave's conversion post sticky as well. I'll...

Removal and rebuild of the 8.875" 12 bolt.

(Preview)
It can be smooth when the bolts turn like new. Even the lines came undone. No rust. Drivers side needed the Vice Grip, but only just (because I wasn't willing to wait for the PB Blaster to work). But I'm sort of worried about the flex line to main chassis line. Cracked it open and pulled the axles. They hav...

67 and older 4 speed shifter restoration
(Preview)
I've decided to make an attempt at "tightening up" an original shifter for my 66. This is the same shifter body that was used in Canadian Pontiacs, Beaumonts, Acadians, numerous Chevrolets and I think maybe some Buicks prior to 1967. I have it all disassembled and need to order some parts for it. Fo...

TH400. Build post,

(Preview)
I've thought it might of of interest to document my TH400 build, hopefully sparking some discussion around of what is best. Like my rear end build, the transmission was originally one of those things "Black art" and best thought as being left to the pro's. I have had very good success with my 12 bolt bui...

Speedometer gear sleeve/bullet
(Preview)
I am cleaning stuff in my tumbler and when I was putting this one in the tumbler today I noticed it doesn't have a seal in it. I never realized not all of these were the same design. There are some with a seal inside to keep the oil from coming out past the gear. To me, this design would be more prone to oil leaks...

1969 Full size 396 & 427 production, how many were made?
(

(Preview)
As the subject heading asks. Does anyone have info on how many 396 and 427 cars were built? I can find that 10 2+2 convertibles came with a 427 but what about other applications. The VVS I got for my 69 396 2+2 only indicated that 1943 2+2 coupes were made but no power train break down.

12 bolt upgrade for the 65

A nice upgrade just landed in my driveway after a long journey from Manitoba and via London Ontario. Thanks a ton needs to go out to Carl and Randy! Thanks so much guys! It's a complete, ready to run open 3.07 12 bolt from Carl's 66 Strato. While my leaky 3.08 10 bolt seems to work fine, it's a sloppy 3 leg, an...

Speedo cable replacement

my 67 impala instrument cluster was rebuilt many years ago. It seems that every year I have a noisy speedo cable. Pull it out and lube it but not perfect. The speedo needle has a minor fluctuation but settles down after a bit of lube. It seems to be a yearly ritual. The transmission is 3 speed th350. Any...

Hi.. Went for a drive on Friday, temperature was 85F +. Car runs at 180-200 F most of the time, cooler on the highway. But Friday the temp was up over 210F driving thru town. Might have got to 215F but I was back on the highway in a few minutes and she started to cool down to 190F. When I got home in the garage I l...

What's this rubber hose for ?
(Preview)
Hi guys, I recently installed a new carb on the 68 2+2 and I am wondering what this rubber hose is for, coming out of the bottom of the breather. Does it attach to the carb somewhere or does it just dangle ? Regards, Scott (LandShark ...)
