I figure I might try to document the conversion of the 65 Laurentian, from power glide to a 4 speed Muncie M20. I'll ad that Carl Stevenson has been a invaluable resource on this conversion, and has helped me out immensely. thanks Carl! And be sure to check out Dave's conversion post sticky as well. I'll...

Removal and rebuild of the 8.875" 12 bolt.

(Preview)
It can be smooth when the bolts turn like new. Even the lines came undone. No rust. Drivers side needed the Vice Grip, but only just (because I wasn't willing to wait for the PB Blaster to work). But I'm sort of worried about the flex line to main chassis line. Cracked it open and pulled the axles. They hav...

67 and older 4 speed shifter restoration
(Preview)
I've decided to make an attempt at "tightening up" an original shifter for my 66. This is the same shifter body that was used in Canadian Pontiacs, Beaumonts, Acadians, numerous Chevrolets and I think maybe some Buicks prior to 1967. I have it all disassembled and need to order some parts for it. Fo...

I've thought it might of of interest to document my TH400 build, hopefully sparking some discussion around of what is best. Like my rear end build, the transmission was originally one of those things "Black art" and best thought as being left to the pro's. I have had very good success with my 12 bolt bui...

11" clutch for big block?
(Preview)
Man, in the past it was easy. Rock Auto or my local parts store. I would order a Luk or a Sachs clutch and no worries. Now neither one of them list a stock replacement clutch for a 66 396/427. Any of you guys buy one lately? If so, what did you buy?

Powerglides. Hey, they ain't so bad after all.
(Preview)
So in the new 69 resides a 35/250 with a Powerglide. Works and shifts as intended behind the 350. Just does it's job. I never thought I'd like a 2 speed, had mental designs on a 3 speed and maybe a OD, but I have to say it's a fine transmission for a cruiser with a 2.93. Exceeds what I would have thought, smoot...

Exhaust manifold heat riser valve explosion!
(Preview)
So yesterday I pulled a pair of manifolds off an old seized 283. Naturally the heat riser valve is seized as they always seem to be. I thought I'd heat it to see if I could get the shaft to move. I'm glad I had glasses plus my tinted goggles on over them. As I heated it, suddenly it sounded like a gunshot and wha...
