It's going to be used as a parts car for my other 67 Biscayne with this motor.

Picked up another 67 biscayne, this is a parts car. 327 3spd, 12 bolt, large front sway bar etc. Original 327 bottom end came with it, very decent floors and trunk floor. Thanks to Carl S for helping me pic it up.

 Yeah, twice....

Once when we loaded it and once about 3 miles later when it rolled off the trailer..... I still can't believe how fortunate I was that the car wasn't damaged and nobdoy was hurt.

I wish I knew what I did wrong when I tied it down. I've had a car trailer over 30 years and never had anything like this happen to me before.

Well as you say no one and nothing was hurt - that's the main thing. It's great that you could help out.

Ya good thing we were just turning around and going slow, not going down the highway at 80+klm. But in the end no big deal, just took a little longer wink

Interesting that its a 327 3spd standard,  cool.

Looks like more neat stuff in that yard.

Isn't that cool, 327 bolt action 3 speed in a post car? The first thing I did as soon as we got to the car was check it for a 3/8" fuel line, and there it was! Certainly a rarity around here.

Dude, i lost a 68 390 4 speed AMX on a trailer..motor and trans where in the truck bed,,,.i made a right turn, just happened to look in the rear view..i saw it move, and in slow motion it just rolled off the trailer...moved about 4 feet and came to a stop..the best i could figure, it shifted on the trailer, dropped a strap, shifted again dropped another strap and off it came..it was rural...i was doing 5 miles an hour..could have been U G L Y...never happened before.....hasnt happened since....was a bad feeling..trust me...absolutely no damage...i just paid a TON of money for it to....well it seemed like a ton at that time to me...

I always let the air out a tire, almost flat..so if it take off it will stop....now

I will certainly be doing my straps different now. I always tie down over the lower control arm in the front, diff tube in the rear. For years now, I have had the straps in an "X", left control arm strap is pulling to the right front corner of the trailer, etc. I am thinking I must not have had the strap pulled hard enough and/or it slipped over something it had caught on and slipped to create slack. It must have happened to either both fronts or both rears though.

I heard the "clink" as I started to back up, saw it loose, tried to back up enough to keep it rolling forward on the trailer but I was backing down a slight hill and just couldn't do it. What a sick feeling but when I think of how much worse it could have been (highway speed, more traffic etc.) it's incredible it worked out so well.

Cal (Zapper68) invited me over a few weeks ago to show me the 2 post cars that he had just received from the shipper. I told him he better get those pictures up on here because there will be some guys very interested in seeing them. He kindly sent me the pictures and I will post them for him. Good chance he can pop in here and give us a little more info on them. Hopefully down the road when he gets his beautiful shop finished we might get a peak inside and see some more of his collection and one shot of the view from the upper floor. Here goes.

Thanks Jerel for posting the pictures of my 55 Gasser and 66 Biscayne for the guys (& gals) on the Poncho site. Thank you to those that passed on their kind words.... A short history of both cars is as follows;

There was an article in the June 87 edition of Super Chevy magazine that featured 2 L72 Biscaynes, a black one and what eventually turned out to be my Aztec Bronze car. Unknowingly, I bought the magazine and left it at my parents house back then when I was visiting them on leave from work. It went into a box of old magazines dating back to the late 60's, some dated before I could drive...legally that is.

Fast forward to January 2004 when I was back visiting my aging folks. In my spare time I was perusing some of the old mags and came across an article called 'Minnesota Thunder'. It was then that I noticed the cars were owned by a gentleman living a few miles from my brother in MN. I called my brother and asked him to have a look in the phone book and see if the gentleman that owned the cars was listed. Lucky for me he was. I contacted Leroy and we had a long conversation discussing L72 Biscaynes (he has owned 4 of them) and other cars he owned. He is a dyed in the wool Chevy fan without a doubt having 13 Chevs in his collection at the time...including an '70 LS6 Chevelle and a 65 Chevelle 300 L79 post car.

When I asked about the possability of him selling one of the Biscaynes to me, he said the black one has been sold and the bronze would possibly be for sale too. He then mentioned he had a 1600 mile blue one and a 54K green one that had a dented front fender as a result of hitting a deer. One interesting bit of trivia he passed on was that GM only built 183 of these cars in '66. There are many more of them out there now as a result of clones, reproductions etc....The Bronze car had been raced when new and the odometer was at 16450 miles (original) when I purchasd it. Leroys cousin was the original owner and ordered the car from Arrow Chevrolet in Duluth.

Fast forward again to May of 2004, when I made the effort to visit both my brother in Duluth and Leroy who lived 20 minutes up the road. When I walked into his shop he had the car cleaned up and it still had some day 2 parts attached such as a Mallory Ignition, headers, a front end lift kit, Hurst shifter, line lock and the Cragar mags you see in the photos. A deal was made after some negotiation... I kept the Cragars, Hookers, lift kit and the original 15" wheels with an NOS set of dog dish caps.

Slow forward now to May 2012...I purchased the 55 Gasser this past January after seeing it on the sYc (Yenko) web site in the 'Cars for Sale' section. The Gasser was in Chicago and my Biscayne had been at my brothers in Duluth MN for nearly 8 years. Arrangements were made for TFX to pick up my cars and deliver them to me in BC.

Both cars are big blocks, the Biscayne is a L72 the Gasser is a L78 out of a 68 Chevelle. Both have Muncie transmissions, the Biscayne an M21 and the Gasser an M22. Both have 4.10 posi gears...the Biscayne has the original 12 bolt and the Gasser an Olds diff. Neither car has power steering or power brakes. The Biscayne has the original 'fruit jar m/c' with drum brakes (sintered metal shoes), factory in dash tach & the original Muncie dog leg shifter, the Gasser has 4 wheel disc brakes and a Hurst Competition Plus. Both the cars were built at the Janesville Wisconsin factory, the Gasser in November of '54 and the Biscayne in April of '66.

I have had the opportunity to drive my Biscayne when it was at my brothers over the years and racked up another 300 miles or so. I haven't driven the Gasser because of the open headers as it was a quiet Sunday morning when the cars were delivered.

I'm definately looking forward to going home this time getting the Biscayne on the road and working on the Gasser.
