those cars had a 421 ?? 300 pounds is considerable weight off a frame , if it was my car i would of been concerned by some week spots on a frame like that , especially with all that power.

Me too but I'm sure the Ponbtiac engineers had all of that factored in. Bear in mind that the car was only meant to run down the drag track a quarter mile at a time. This was the rationale for the aluminum headers; had the car been for the street or circle racing they could not have used aluminum as it would have deformed in use from excessive heat - that was the explanation Pontiac gave at the time.

i still have my saying , when the driver dumps the clutch and those 405 +++ hp are triggered off , i would still worry for the frame , or is this me feeling insecure for absolutly nothing ))))))

Here's  a swiss cheese car I saw at Ames in 2010; prior to restoration it had been modified to an altered wheelbase race car.  One pic shows the holes in the frame, and the other shows the factory header. There was a y pipe for the single muffler installed at the factory for street use; the factory aluminum headers were uncapped for the track.

Other than a few GTO 2 door posts I did not see any other Pontiac post cars except this 72 Ventura and a Canadian Vauxhall from Ontario.

More 2 door post cars from the Syracuse Nationals July 20-22. Most of the cars were Chevrolet models with a smattering of other GM makes, as well as a handful of Fords & Mopars. First the Chevy A & B bodies of the 60s. The first blue 65 had an Ontario plate.

A few very rare post cars - both 2 door and 4 door - from the National Impala Convention in New Jersey week of July 23. 

The fist is a 65 Biscayne 409/400 hp 4 speed car. 

The second is a factory 427/T400 radio delete 4 door 67 Biscayne.

The third is 396 automatic 65 Impala 4 door.

Heres a 1965 Plymouth Belvedere with a Street Wedge platform using a 440 block that had very few miles on her since its restoration.
A young man while high on methamphetamine stole this Black Beauty and crashed it into a tree at a reported 150 mph.
Below are some photos of the car before the gruesome collision.

66 Grande Parisienne, 2dr HT, 327 4bbl, Auto.

Had the 66 since about 83 and the 65 since 88.
Both still require a lot of work.

My car. Its seen every winter, former RCMP chase car from Nova Scotia. 2nd registered owner. Was from Ottawa. I wanted to sell it but changed my mind. Bang for buck, cant beat it.  We enjoy it. Its a nice poor mans HotRod to me. Long list of mods done to this car but not even close in comparrison to some of your vehicles. Atleast I can drive this year round.
