Well the beauty of seeing the actual auction is we can hear and observe all of those things going on. I have to be frank though, I saw no high pressure or other tactics used to drive that price up. It appeared to come down to two people who placed some intrinsic value on that car based on their own preferences and circumstances.

Thats all it takes Ray. 2 guys with money both wanting the same car. Just didn't think it would bring anywhere close to that.. I was wrong. It looks like the auction was run legit. No schill bidders.

Jeff (Tiny) said there were a lot of big players there including a lot of trucks with enclosed trailers from the U.S. The numbers must have been right on that car.
Now we'll have to find the forum that has the build thread!

I agree Carl. These cars always looked good, but are not much fun to drive.

Well 66ragtop has his answer right here 37 - 10 percent is way more than anyone could get out of their driveway and imagine the buyer @ 37 + tax + 10 percent fee !

Based on my previous post I do not think we should put any value in the outcome of this auction with respect to fair market value or even an upturn in the old car market. It is simply a case of someone with a good deal of money behind them who wanted the car.

That is very interesting.....none of us were even close to the right dollar figure! Starting bid was $10,000. Anyone notice the family who walked away after the wife bid around $20,000 and then it kept going higher? She must have wanted it but her arms were not long enough to reach any deeper into the pockets.
