Motor mounts for my 64 CS?


So I finally found a 283 for my 64 Parisienne CS and went to buy new motor mounts but there were 2 sytles to choose from and since the car came without engine or mounts I bought both. I am hoping I can find out from the membership which one is correct to save me swapping them while in progress of the installation.

Both have the same bolt hole pattern except one is longer with extra material?

 Choose the first one. It has the built in lock so the engine doesn't lift one way or the other if the engine mount fails...............

Thanks for the info.

Were these both availbe in 64 or was the one with the lock develped afterward because of failure and engine lifting?

 Correct.


Just be carfull that the tabs do not interfer with any of the brackets for PS, or bind on the frame mounts, or rub on trans lines.

If you buy jobber mounts, test fit them first thing on the frame mounts. Next, bolt them to the engine and see if it sits down properly so you can put the horizontal bolt in each side.

I got reproduction mounts from a jobber, made in India. Pure junk...

I honestly spent HOURS trying to make my 327 fit in my Acadian and this is as close as I could get, even leaving the 3 block bolts loose and prying as hard as I could with a pry bar.





I gave up, bought NOS mounts off ebay, bolted them on and dropped the block down in place perfectly in seconds. The horizontal bolts went in perfectly.

I posted up on the Nova forum about it and a bunch of guys replied that they too had tossed the India crap in the garbage since it wouldn't fit.

And not only that, the steel is about double the thickness on the original engine mounts.

forget the jobber/foreign junk mounts, if they fit, they'll be broken after a few months anyway.
go with energy suspension poly mounts or solid mounts.

How big a hurry are you in?

I may be able to help you but it won't be for a couple of weeks. I've bought some mounts that were shipped out of the US on the weekend. They may be the right ones for you and I just bought them to have some spares, I don't have an immediate need for them.

Hey Carl,

I am not in a hurry, it will be a few weeks before I get the engine cleaned, painted and some chrome goodies. Not to mention the snow bank in front of the car cleaning the engine compartment painting it etc. so yea it will be a while.

I have looked for the past few days on the internet and even went to a performance shop and I could not get good mounts. On ebay the mounts look like the same I bought but more expensive!!!!

I appreciate the offer and would be interested, are these stock mounts or the engineered type.

What are your thoughts on solid mounts, I have heard pro's and cons"

I just bought motor mounts from Antique Chev in Toronto for my 307 and they fit perfect and the price was right.

They haven't arrived yet, but I am thinking they should be here early to mid week.

I can try to let you know as soon as they arrive. I will make sure they are the correct ones for your application as well.

As far as solid mounts, I don't like the idea of them in a daily driver type cruiser but to each his own.

If I was building a manual trans car with some big power I would likely use them.
