Thats too low..

To keep things fair and legal (do not want to take advantage of government)  I would pay 10g for the car and 10g for the flat hood  and just need a bill for the car...

retail sales tax has to be paid on an appraisal prepared by an Ontario licensed appraiser not a bill of sale in Ontario unless the bill of sale is higher than the appraisal

eg: Purchase @ $10,000 appraiser values at $20,000 tax is on $20,000
eg : purchase @ $20,000 appraier values at $10,000 tax is on $20,000

Thanks Dalton

When I buy $100 retail shoes for $50 on sale I don't pay tax on the $100 value !

But, you can have a "Ont licenced Auto Dealer" do a appraisal for sales tax..

Car appraised for $20,000.00 for "insurance"..
Dealer sells it, or appraises it for you, and price is $10,000  you pay tax on $10,000.00

Form is available at MTO( I'll get one and show you)
take it to any car dealer and you get appraisal for tax  (at least in Huron County)biggrin

yes all licensed Ontario dealers are licensed by the ministry of revenue to perform retail sales tax appraisals if they apply for a number. I wonder how two different values would come about except that two appraisers have different opinions (but $10000 apart) you still have the case of your correct bill of sale/money transfer/draft receipt. I am told that there is a central registry that compares RST claim with the value insured whether they chase it or not. Bottom line that's cheating. Taxes are facts that we have to figure in to our costs. Its too bad these Liberals dreamed them up but their here now and we have to pay 13 percent on most everything we purchase

I am still talking of a legal deal, where you pay 10g for a car insured at 20  and I know of some on this site...   If you bought the collector car, off a dealer for 10g  he isn't going to tax you on 20..
Maybe a poor example, but my house is insured for 372,000.00 total loss replacement,   but about 185 on the market..   Should we start paying on insured value when listing house?   that would kill retail sales..

This is not about GST,PST or how to cheat the system. This is about a member that has offered his pride and joy for sale, it must be difficult to think of parting with such a beautiful car. If it was my car and I went on here and read some of this bantering and knit picking I'd tell ya where to go and where to get off at. Like the man said ,NO TIRE KICKERS. $20.000.00 for this car is a steal, anyone that suggests that he's asking too much either hasn't built a car or doesn't have the money to begin with. SO, will the real buyer please stand up!!!!

Agreed that the thread has gotten off topic, which is almost always annoying to whoever starts the thread. But with regards to the value of the car, I think it's worth mentioning that there has been nothing but positive feedback on the price and the quality of the car. I'm sure it will be sold very soon...

 you should read-----

bottom line I haven't seen anyone else  offer anything on here !

we are all pro s on what somethings worth-

it was worth 20 to me in my driveway

everything I put on here for sale I get belly aching about shipping-its part of the cost

that was REAL money on the table if you want to wait for 20 be my guest it should be worth that to a local guy who won t have 25 in it in his driveway-you really shouldn't frown when someone makes an offer its a way of life-
1) you take it
2) you leave it
3) you counter it
