A couple weeks ago there was a post from somebody on here about possibly getting a rad re-cored. Some people said just buy a new one and be done with it, well I went the re-core route. I did several internet searches on re-cores, and found some great info. As I was going to run the original engine I didn't need anything different or bigger. I went that way mainly for originality, but also I saved money with the final product & shipping. I had a rad shop on the Island do it. They have been in business for a hundred years (they actually had their business wall calendar dated 1912 in a frame on the wall, with the guy's Grandfather as propriator). They did a great job, pressure tested, and everything.

Nice to see Darryl. I had my original dual re-cored to a triple last summer as opposed to a replacement. Glad that I did (and I'm glad that you're glad that you did.)

Did the same to my original rad. Its the original six cylinder rad that was only one core. It is now three core, done by City Rad in Winnipeg. Been sitting in the trunk for years. Hope its good enough for a mild 350. If not I guess plan B.
I,ve done the same thing with 55 rads that need a recore, the only thing thing different is the style of rad. The old ones were a honeycone style fin on the cores.
maybe in its lifetime in US, it got a Harrison installed
I did purchase it in Freeport, Maine, it was originally from Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Ya, maybe something "happened" to it's rad in the U.S. and it got an Impala? one.

Last time i did a recore on a 64 chevelle rad it was about 300 or more. and that was about 6 years ago.
I think its cheaper to get a new one out of the states. The metal is a bit thinner, but some of these Ebay radiator places have rads for as little as 150.
I cant speak for chevelle/fulsize cars, but i delt with Radiators.com for my 68 and 71 trucks. 3 and 4 core rads were less that 200 and really good quality. They have been in my trucks for atleast 4 years.

MY BEAUMONT HAS 4 STUDDED TIRES AND 2 BLOCKHEATERS......AND LOTS OF OIL UNDERNEATH. The other one has a longer roof.
I think the Edmonton re-core was about $250.00? I had originally considered a repro rad, but it was made in China and was not very good quality, so I quickly returned it to the distributer...

It was $300.00 + tax Max. I would shop local to you, shipping would kill you.
