67 Beaumont Dash (GTO). Ashtray ground wire? HELP!

I have my dash reinstalled, and mostly hooked up. I had disconnected a wire and I labelled the end as "ashtray". It was connected to a screw on the left side of the ashtray assembly.  It is now on the floor, and I need to know where the other end goes. I assume that it is a ground, but there is no obvious spot for it. HELP!

prolly a ground for an old stereo install,or aftermarket guages or something along that line. the ash tray light was usually grounded through the housing.

Any tips for diagnosiing/correcting would be much appreciated. I never did find the location for this wire. I dont really care about the wire, but I still dont have taillights/brake lights or horn. I assume that they are on the same circuit, and I am missing a ground somewhere, all worked fine before dash removal. Can anyone tell me how this circuit is supposed to be grounded? I'd hate to farm out this job, as its probably trial and error, and I dont want to leave it with anyone.

I do.....but it might as well be in Chinese to me. I have the diagrams from this site. I did all the disconnections myself, labelled them and re-connected them where they came from when everything was working, except for the power wire to the lighter, and the mystery wire that was attached to the ashtray housing. Of course I might have missed something. I do understand basic electrical, but thats about it. I have checked fuses, and flasher, they are good. I was hoping someone might have a good idea what I might have overlooked, that could cause this problem, or where to start.

.....I could certainly use his help. My biggest problem right now is vertigo of all things.......I cant lay upsidedown for more than a minute or two without being sick to my stomach for the rest of the day.....its very frustrating. Barry if you see this and could help, I'd make it worth your while!

Thank you so much for the offer, and thank Carl for asking you to help.....I know its hard to find time for our own cars, never mind other peoples. I asked a friend come over from work last night to 'look for something obvious', because I cant even look right now. The problem was solved in under 10 minutes. It had nothing to do with the ashtray wire. I am a happy man again, and will have the car at work when the rain stops. Thanks again for the offer! Time to make tracks!

Good to hear Tom, I hope that vertigo clears up. Car show in Hoyt this weekend, looks like the weather's going to cooperate.
(So what was the problem, something not plugged in?)

Yes, the large semi-circular connector was not seated properly. I am too happy about it being fixed to be embarassed. I went to the Hoyt show for the last 2 years, and will most likley be there again. I like the smaller shows. Are you planning to check it out?
