The only one I saw in person was just like that. The colour was almost like a Grabber Blue with a matt black grille & scooped hood, plus a red pinstripe. The wheels were the 13" Rostyle type that look like the kind used on the Capri, MG Midget (and MGB though they were 14").

The picture below looks like the brochure that I traded except that on my brochure the car was yellow-orange rather than grey.

Those V8 Firenzas are a surprise to me. I guess to know about those I would have had to read Track & Traffic Canada back in the day.

Haha, don't worry, I wasn't actually upset that you proved me wrong about GMC dealers selling Envoy.

I might still buy you a coffee if you would come for the Winnipeg swap meet...

This is a very long thread but some of you may have the time:

http://www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/garage/redvictor3-started-last-5064

The name is a play on words from an old English tv cop show in which the cars had Zed Victor callsigns. Red Victor 2 was the quickest street car in Europe. As those of you who find the time to look at the build will see - this one will be even quicker.

I believe he intends eventually to bring the car to North America and blow some established players away................

I have a couple of old Epic brochures from Pontiac dealers. U.S. Buick dealers sold the German Opel  Kadett, Manta and GT; in Canada Pontiac-Buick dealers sold the British Epic / Envoy plus maybe the odd Opel GT.

I also remember sending my dad out to get the 1971 Chevrolet brochures. Among the haul was a 1970 Vauxhall Viva / Victor brochure with a Viva GT on the cover (only seen one and that was when it was new). I traded that brochure for a 1971 Porsche 911 brochure.

I had that same brochure with the Viva GT on it  back in 71 or 72; wish I could find it now.

Envoys were sold by Chevy dealers.

Vauxhalls were sold by Pontiac dealers. I have 2 PAs down here in the US that both came from Canada, my 60 Velox was sold by Pigott Motors in Toronto which was, to my knowledge, a Buick-Pontiac dealer.

Is that wagon for sale?

Bill

Can anyone remind me please who sold Envoy cars and vans in Canada? Was it Pontiac-Buick or Chevrolet-Olds dealers? Whichever it was, the other sold Vauxhalls. The first, 1959 I think, Envoy Epic was a FA series Vauxhall Victor that was 'breathed-on' by GM's head of Pontiac design Paul W. Gillan in Warren, Michigan. It was basically in response to a request from 'the other' dealers that that sold Vauxhalls. In the States Opels and Vauxhall Victors were sold by Buick dealers.

Also has anyone got a shot please of the Envoy EA van, which was the revised version of the BEDFORD CA vans sold by whomever sold Vauxhalls? This is what they looked like in 1960-on form with the new style front end that replaced the origjnal 1953-on pressed steel slats.

Im my city the Chevy dealer sold the Envoy & Epic versions while the Pontiac dealer sold the Victor & Viva versions.

Here's a vintage pic from around 1959 (you can tell from the signage) that was taken in Powell River at the local GMC dealer. These appear to be the new Bedfords for the upcoming year.

Those are up to 1959 Models as the 1960 Models had the revised grille and the one-piece small windscreen. They are Bedford CA vans, model CAV...the Envoy version for Chevrolet dealers was the EA. I am guessing thatg they are 1957 or 1958 Models. The Quebec Gas Company [or whatever it was called] had a huge fleet of Bedford CAVs.

Thanks for the input. I thought that they were somewhere around '59's because of the "NEW BUICK FOR 1959" sign on the building. I do have a note on the back of the original photo that says it was December '58........thanks........ Doug.
