Very nice, clean car. You can tell how well kept it is by that close-up pic. of the odometer. There is not a scratch on that gauge, not even a speck of dirt!

In this market the car is way overpriced. It would have to be at least a 350-295 hp engine to be over $12,000. It is a really nice car just the wrong time to sell. The best value today are 1995-1997 Camaro and Firebirds with the LT1 engine. You can buy low mile examples for around $10,000.

This is a very nice car and uncommon to see the fibre optics signal/lights option. I like Customs a lot though, a 327 would have been nice but I suspect a rather uncommon option.

Looks like a well taken care of car. I realy like it 307 and all.  He is probably feeling out the price and will most likely will have to drop the price if he realy wants to sell.

I really like the wheel covers, that basic style were used on a lot of Pontiacs throughout this period, we had them on a '65 Lauentian as illustrated.

just wondering

I have never had a 307 anything, is there a reason people dont seem to like them, or is

that the other engines available just had more power?? Ive had several 283, 327, 350's

in mostly stock form and they all seemed simliar , some a little more power then others

but in the same ball park,, is a 307 something else all together?

I would be happy to cruise around in that car

From Wiki:

A 307 cu in (5 L) was produced from 1968 through 1973. Engine bore was 3.875 inches (98.4 mm) with a 3.25-inch (82.6 mm) stroke.

The 307essentially a 283 block with the longer-stroke 327 crankshaftreplaced the 283 in Chevrolet cars in 1968 and produced 200 hp (149 kW) SAE gross at 4600 rpm and 300 lb·ft (407 N·m) of torque at 2400 rpm. Later versions produced just 115 hp (86 kW) SAE net. Chevrolet didn't produce a high-performance version of the engine, but did produce for Outboard Marine Corporation, a high-performance marinized 307, rated at 235 hp (175 kW) and 245 hp (183 kW) SAE gross, depending on year, that shipped with the Corvette/Z-28's cast aluminum valve covers and Rochester QuadraJet carb. Chevy also built other versions of the OMC 307 rated at 210 hp (157 kW), 215 hp (160 kW) and 225 hp (168 kW) SAE gross.

It depends on who you speak to about a 307. I think they have a  reputation among members on here because they were a bread and butter low output V8 that was not performance orieneted in an era where big cubes and big power was king but Chevy made millions of them.

I have a neighbour with a 1968 Acadian with a 307, his father's car from new and that thing lays a near nonstop line of rubber from it's open rear end. Another guy I know has a '69 Custom convertible with a 307 and he loves it. As I mentioned above it would be a rare car to see it with a 327.

I just looked in our registry for 1968 Beaumonts. There are 92 cars there by my count.

40 are 307 = 43%

27 are 396 SD = 29%

17 are 250  = 18 %

8 are 327 = 9 %  (all Customs  with one 4dr.)

That's just the car I would want to own one day... original and unmolested.  Park it in the garage and keep it clean!  As much as I like to see the hot rods that people build, my heart will always be true to an original car any day of the week!  The fact that it's a '68 Beaumont, which was my first car (albeit a well-weathered 4 door!) just makes it all that much sweeter!

Now if that darn lottery will just pay off for me!! wink

I remember this car very well as it sat across the street from the high school in Palmerston in the 80's. The owner was a blue haired old lady and it was always in the driveway. I didn't go to the high school in Palmerston but any time I was there the car was in the driveway. This is my favorite colour combo on a Beaumont and this is the car that made it my favorite. This is a super clean car and it is unmolested.

Very nice. It appears to have the factory fibreoptic light monitoring system.

Todd-you would look good in it-scrap the mudflaps add rallys and redlines ! better run down there quick with the Laurentian $ !!

nice car-rare find in this condition-price ? only the market can tell--seems fair to a willing buyer-maybe lighter in this market to most

not sure how the 68 impala is considered expensive at 29 with 1/4 the miles and original paint still in comparison
